I can’t be the only one who has had Hooked on a Feeling stuck in my head since the first Guardians of the Galaxy trailer.
After a Facebook Q and A with most of the cast, Marvel have released a new trailer for the next, and penultimate instalment of Phase 2; Guardians of the Galaxy. So without further ado, here it is;
Now I’m not going to go through scene by scene and explain it to you, you’ve got eyes, and why would I take that away from you, no, Reaction Times is all about telling you what we think of new stuff.
As much as I loved Hooked on a Feeling, it’s great to hear some more off of Peter Quill’s mixed tape (which we actually get to see in all its retro glory later in the trailer), in trailer numero dos it’s the turn of Norman Greenbaum’s Spirit in the Sky, a song that’s quite apt considering all the spaceship footage we get to see this time, as well as a giant head that creeps me the frack out.
There’s more of Starlords iconic helmet, which I have to admit looks a little plastic, but it seems to be holographic, so maybe that’s a design choice, I wonder if it’s got aesthetic settings like ‘steampunk’ or ‘coral’.
Along with his helmet we see Starlord strapping on some gizmos, which could be the way he escapes from the embarrassing introduction that we’ve seen for the second time.
What about the rest of the cast? Well, if it was ever up in the air before, it looks like there’s going to be a love story (or something of that ilk) between Starlord and Zoe Saldana’s Gamora, what with that kiss scene and the way she’s sitting towards him during his ‘bit of bad, bit of both’ speech. It’s a bit disappointing that we don’t get to see more of Gamora and Nebula’s (Karen Gillan) interaction, since that seems to be a main point of conflict in the film.
We also see Dave Bautista’s Drax being pretty darn brutal with his two knives and all those tattoos, in the Q and A, Bautista said that Drax had respect for Starlord, so it will be interesting to see how Quill earns the respect of the maniac.
We also get to see more of Rocket and Groot (Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel), and by that I mean we finally get to hear the big tree say his three word; I am Groot. Rocket seems to be the guy that’s always ready with the lines, and also seems to have a love affair with guns. Which I’m totally cool with.
There’s so much and more to the trailer that’s got me excited for the first of August, which is when the world will get to meet the Guardians properly, so I’m going to go and watch the trailer a couple dozen more times.
