Martin Freeman reveals a little more about his Civil War role, huge patch for the Witcher 3 and new ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ trailer.

Film

Fantastic Four is nearly upon us, like, really nearly. So close in fact that all we’ve got left to watch is a few more TV spots that show off even more unseen footage, with quite a bit of Doom.

Director Sam Mendes has confirmed that Spectre, the next Bond film, will be his last such film. In short he won’t be directing Bond 25. Mendes revitalised the series with 2012’s Skyfall, creating one of the highest grossing and best received Bond films since that one with the submarine car (probably).

Martin Freeman has given us some deliciously cryptic information about his role in Civil War, he’s working for the government, he’s on the side of pro-registration; OR IS HE. He’s walking a grey line apparently.

Television

Wet Hot American Summer First Day of Camp has another promotional video, this time it’s a chance to meet some of the staff, it’s full of that great 1980’s vibe that the last one had. Oh it’s glorious.

David Ramsey (of Arrow) has spoken about his up and coming costume, as well as his first reactions to it, he’s also making noises about wanting another Flash crossover, as well as seeing Diggle’s reaction to a Kryptonian.

Games

Last week we talked briefly about Prototype and the re-release of both those games as a bundle on both new gen consoles. Well, if you had planned to get it but, for some reason, were waiting for this week, maybe thing again, as the general consensus is, ehh, better not.

The Witcher 3 sees a HUGE 7GB patch today, introducing storage caches around the map to unload Geralt, a new movement option, a load of bug fixes and some inventory modifications.

Xbox One streaming to Windows 10 is available now, even though the OS isn’t due to launch for 9 more days.

Suicide Squad trailer released in HD, a look at Oliver Queen’s new outfit and Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 gets a trailer.

Film

The first trailer for Xmen apocalypse appeared at Comic Con this week, and while we don’t have that to show you, we do have a detailed description, as well as the confirmation of the official Four Horseman; Magneto, Psylocke, Storm and Angel.

Speaking of Super Hero trailers, or, more precisely, villain trailers, here’s an official release of the pirated Suicide Squad trailer that the WB have been unable to contain, so they did good by everyone and released an HD version.

Star John C Reilly has pretty much confirmed Wreck it Ralph 2. Though it’ll most likely be somewhere after all the other sequels (and new properties) that are coming out in the coming years. (Frozen 2, the Incredibles 2, Cars 34(probably).

Television

A whole lot of talking went on at Comic Con this week, some of it about our favourite scarlet Speedster The Flash, season two is only 14 weeks away and we’ve got a little run down of season one as well as a cryptic look at what we can expect in season 2. (Blue lightning, the answer is blue lightning).

Speaking of DCs’s television shows, Arrow, which saw Oliver Queen going off on holiday and hanging up his hood at the end of the last season, has a new costume. It looks very cool, as well as practical. Diggle is also getting new threads this season, though this one’s a little vague.

Finally, as a surprise to no one, Bran will be returning for season 6 of Game of Thrones, picking his story up a little after we left him (to skip all that boring seer training)

Games

Five nights at Freddy’s Four has a new creepy trailer, and will be coming this Halloween, this jump scar filled indie game series took the lets play community by storm.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 has a trailer, and it involves skating, which is good, since, you know, I don’t buy Pro Skater games for the FPS sections.

Batman Arkham Knight has had a heap of trouble on the PC, so much so that WB are holding off on the Batgirl DLC for the platform until it’s up to scratch.

Fallout 4 gets a release date and a huge crafting feature, Dishonored 2 announced and Jurassic World destroys Box Office records.

Film

Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight was filmed entirely in 70mm, something that a lot of the marketing material is lording about, well we now have an opening date for that format, as the film will begin showing in 70 mm theatres on the 25th of December this year, with the regular theatrical release some two weeks later in January.

Jurassic World has claimed its place at the top of the boxoffice food chain by having the highest grossing box office opening ever. Of all time. No wonder Chris Pratt is signed on for the sequels already.

A new clip and trailer have appeared for the Ben Kingsley/ Ryan Reynolds body swap thriller Self/less which could be a really fantastic sci-fi experience, assuming it’s not, you know, terrible.

Television

A piece of leaked dialogue has given us a look into the sort of big bad we could be seeing in Arrow season 4; he’s in control, he’s knowledgeable about Oliver’s past enemies and he’s familiar with Ra’s. Damien Darhk? Probably.

Season 3 of Agents of SHIELD will begin airing on September 28th, with, we assume, Agent Carter season 2 airing once again in the mid season break.

Games

Ahead of James’ E3 coverage this week, I’m going to report the big announcements of Bethesda’s first ever E3 conference.

First up, Dishonored 2 was announced. Set some time in the future, with revolt and pestilence once again rife, the game will see Emily Kaldwin all grown up and gifted powers by the Outsider taking the fate of the city into her own hands. We see some of the familiar gadgets and abilities in the announcement trailer alongside new doo-hickeys too.

Alongside that, Dishonored Definitive Edition was announced to be released for current gen this autumn and will be a remastering of the game as well as (we assume,) the DLC.

Fallout 4 news though; release date of November 10th of THIS YEAR. Which is barely any time at all when you think about how long we’ve been waiting for the likes of Arkham Knight since its announcement. It will have a lot of focus on crafting, with every item you find in the world having a use, though we’re assured this isn’t ‘necessary’ and is an optional part of the game, who wouldn’t want to make their own thriving wasteland settlement? It’s like Civilisation, with more super mutants. One more thing you can customise? Your character’s power armour.

If you liked the sound of that and want to see more, head on over to Kotaku for a comprehensive Bethesda run down, along with videos, trailers and more sweet sweet details.

Chris Pratt introduces his Dino-pack, Matt Parkman returns in Heroes Reborn and Batman Arkham Knight gets a live action trailer.

Film

Jurassic World is getting close now, and here’s two more TV spots for the next instalment in the ‘life finds a way’ propaganda movie series, the first features Chris Pratt’s character introducing the Raptor Pack, while the second is an explanation of why they felt the need to BUILD A NEW DINOSAUR.

We get a look at each of the Fantastic Four’s powers in this new promo– beware, it’s actually an add for a movie app.

Remember a while ago we spoke about the BBC drama that would be based around the creation of the GTA series? It was to be titled Game Changer, well, Take-Two Interactive have filed for a lawsuit against the BBC for copyright infringement. So, did someone not like the script?

Television

Heroes Reborn is bringing back yet another familiar face, in the form of psychic cop/magic painter Matt Parkman played by Greg Grunberg. Previously a staple of the original series, Parkman was one of the lead investigator into the Sylar murders (you know, when that show was great.)

Fans of the Flash and Arrow have a long wait ahead of them until the autumn when the shows return, and no doubt we’ll be covering any new news that turns up until then, like this, two videos in which the shows’ creators are chatting about the upcoming seasons.

Games

Battlefield Hardline will get its first of four planned expansions in June, it’s been announced, Criminal Activity will include new maps, weapons and cars as well as a new game mode, check the full list of features out here.

A trailer for the next instalment in the Game of Thrones Telltale game series is out now, with the actual chapter releasing next week across platforms.

There’s a new trailer for Batman Arkham Knight, with a twist; this one is life action, and instead of focussing on gameplay, it’s all about capturing the feel of being Batman, you know, one of the things these games do really well is making you feel like an absolute badass.

Because you’re Batman.

Sara’s Season Finale Rundown

It’s time to say farewell to a few of our best-loved TV shows, but luckily it won’t be for too long. The next few weeks will be filled with season finale episodes and probably a lot of cliff-hangers and surprising twists. Some have already ended and my emotions are currently running wild. Be warned, there will be spoilers.

Arrow: ‘My Name Is Oliver Queen’

As far as season finales go, ‘My Name is Oliver Queen’ was pretty great. Oliver finally reveals his plan to save Starling City; the team finally works as a team again and stops the spread of the virus; and Oliver kills Ra’s just before being shot by a police sniper and then saved by Felicity dressed in Ray’s ATOM suit. The finale was strangely positive. Something that I’m certainly not used to when watching Arrow. I guess Malcolm Merlyn becoming the new head of the League of Assassins balances out the episode. Surely that can’t end well.

The season finale of Arrow seemed very, well, final. Oliver and Felicity rode off into the sunset after killing Ra’s al Ghul, but what now? If we didn’t know that Arrow had been renewed for a fourth season or that DC’s Legends of Tomorrow was being made, we probably would have assumed that that was it. Luckily it isn’t, and hopefully Oliver will be back fighting crime in no time. Maybe not as the Arrow, even though that might break my heart.

I’m very intrigued and nervous about how they’ll handle the next season. But I have the utmost faith that the writers won’t let me down.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D: ‘S.O.S’

No, no, no, no, please no.

If you watched the finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D then you’re well aware of why my heart aches. Fitz and Simmons were finally going to realise that they’re meant to be together and then the Kree stone decides to rip my heart out by absorbing her. Really writers? You do this to me?

At least Bobbi didn’t die saving Hunter and Coulson only lost an arm. But, and there’s a bit but, the Terrigen crystals have taken on a new form: ordinary fish oils that will be sold in supermarkets. Oops. Oh and Ward will be out for revenge as he accidently killed Kara who he thought was Agent May.

We find out towards the end of the episode that Skye will be leading a team of powered people, which appears to be a nod to Marvel’s Secret Warriors. Well at least I hope it is. Perhaps this is how Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D will link to Captain America: Civil War, but we’ll have to wait till 2016 to find out.

But at least we can still get our MCU fix through Ant-Man, which comes out in July.

Reign: ‘Burn’

Excuse me, what? So much happened in such a short period of time and the finale left us with so many more questions.

So, Mary told Conde that she was pregnant with his baby but it was all a ruse and she stabbed him. I’m not going to say I was surprised. Amidst the chaos of the siege, Catherine had Lola and Francis’ baby abducted so Conde would be blamed, and then killed, but Francis found out and she has been exiled. Oh, and Conde escaped. After all that, Catherine is now in England plotting with Queen Elizabeth against Mary. We’ll have to see how that plan pans out.

Up next in the list of crazy castle happenings: Kenna is pregnant with Renaude’s baby, but he was just hanged for treason. Kenna and Bash’s marriage (yes, she is/was married) fell apart once Bash found out that she was carrying another man’s baby. But, being the resourceful woman she is, she has found her next target: a shy young king. Delphine, Bash’s side chick, turns out to be a crazy witch who bound their souls together before almost being burnt at the stake.

And last, but certainly not least, the big cliff-hanger: Francis and Mary rekindled their flame, if you know what I mean, but we also found out that he’s dying. So, there’s that.

Like I said, we’re left with more questions than answers: Where on Earth is Conde? Will Catherine really betray Francis by working with Queen Elizabeth? Will Mary’s love really be the end of Francis, just like the prophecy said? I guess we’ll have to wait and see in season 3.

If you have never seen this show and you are very confused by everything I have said then I urge you to go watch it. Yes, it can be very historically inaccurate at times but once you’re past that then you’ll have a great time. Trust me.

Civil War’s funeral revealed, The Rock to return for Furious 8 and Sega pulls a heap of games from iTunes.

Film

Spoilers right out of the gate; last week we showed images from Captain America Civil War that featured some of our favourite heroes in funeral attire, now we know officially who’s send off they were attending, it should be a surprise, but click here to see.

Furious 7 has taken the box office by storm, and really claimed the franchise’s place as one of the biggest cinema events of their release year. To that end, it’s no surprise that the 8th film in the franchise has been given the go ahead for 2017 and fans of Dwayne Johnson’s character of Luke Hobbs will be happy to know he’s on his way back for the next instalment.

Chris Pratt, now there’s a popular sought after guy, after starting his career in Parks and Recreation he’s gone from strength to strength starring in surprise mega-hit Guardians of the Galaxy and soon to be in Jurassic World, he’s even in talks to reboot the Indianna Jones franchise… One thing he’s pretty sure he’s not doing? Ghostbusters. He calls the rumours that he and Channing Tatum will be starring in their own movie in the series ‘Bullshit’, that he’s not heard anything about them.

Television

Arrow season 3 started off with a major character’s death, and the tone of the season just followed that; it was a particularly dark and menacing series, even for a show that thus far has been dark anyway. Well season 4, showrunner Marc Guggenheim says, will be a lighter tone. Not too light, this isn’t the Flash, after all, but it will be lighter.

Speaking of the Flash, Grant Gustin has suited up alongside Melissa Benoist for a Variety cover focussing on producer Greg Berlanti, who has been responsible for bringing these characters to our screens.

Games

Hey remember last year when Destiny’s Alpha came out and Dinklebot had that hilariously bad line about moon wizards? Well it’s back! Re-edited so that it sounds like the robotic ghost that we’ve all grown to… like? Anyway, reports say it’s actually been back in the game for months.

Sega have pulled a heap of games from online app stores Google Play and iTunes including Jet Set Radio, Super Monkey Ball, Altered Beast and Ecco the Dolphin. For a full list, check here.

Civilization: Beyond Earth has its first expansion on the way, in the form of rising tide, which will see players able to build on water and explore the treasures (and treacherousness) of the oceans as well as new diplomatic options.

Crossbones’ Costume revealed, alternate Hulk Vs Ironman fight from Age of Ultron and David Lynch returns to Twin Peaks.

Film

In case you missed it over the weekend, here’s a picture of Frank Grillo’s character Brock Rumlow from Civil War, only with a bit of a makeover; last seen recovering from serious wounds after fighting Falcon in The Winter Soldier, Rumlow will return in Civil War as Crossbones, who will almost definitely have a vendetta against cap and the gang.

One of the biggest draws for Age of Ultron was the Hulkbuster Vs Hulk fight, now I was pretty happy with how that scene went down, but here’s an alternate version in the form of an animated storyboard, of how that fight could have gone down; much more gas, less call backs to punching Thor in his big Norse face.

Mad Max Fury Road which has been receiving a lot of praise across the board for various reasons, has enjoyed over a box office opening of over £100 Million, sitting second place to Pitch Perfect 2.

Television

Last week we reported the list of shows that would, and those that would not, be getting a season renewal come the fall, and on the latter list was The Mindy Project, but immediately after the cancellation there were whispers of an on demand service picking up the show, and those rumours turned out to be right on the money, as Hulu has picked the show up for a 26 episode run.

It’s been a wild ride for Twin Peaks fans since the announcement that the show would be returning again for another season; first excitement, then disappointment when David Lynch left the project, well breath easy fans, because Lynch is back on board, and not only that, but he’ll be directing the entire series, which will be longer than the 9 hours previously stated.

Greg Berlanti has discussed the possibility of The Flash and Arrow crossing over with CBS’ Supergirl, and has said that it’s most likely not going to happen. He says it could happen, but a lot of things would have to go right for it to.

Games

Fans of indie games Octodad and Thomas Was Alone who play Little Big Planet 3 will be in for a treat, as costumes for both those games are coming to the creativity fuelled Playstation exclusive.

Want to play Super Smash Brothers but don’t own a WiiU? You only have a PC? Well Check in, Knock out could be what you’re looking for, featuring special abilities, destructible environments and charming art, this brawler could satiate your need.
