The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen reboot is in the works, New clip from Disney’s Inside Out, and Gotham to introduce a crime duo,

Film

The Suicide Squad is still in the news it seems, and these folks really need some better security, as this leaked video that shows the Batmobile hunting down Joker’s fancy car that we saw in some previous behind the scene shots, prove. So, Batman cameo very much confirmed?

We’ve not heard much from Disney’s Inside Out of late, but after being very well received at Cannes Film Festival, we’ve got a little clip from the film featuring the whole gang, but focussing on Bill Hader’s Fear.

Hey, do you remember the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen? You know, that film that had Sean Connery, Mr Hyde, Tom Sawyer and Captain Nemo in it? You know that film that caused Connery to quit acting? Well, Fox is attempting to reboot the film. Originally ‘based’ on Alan Moore’s graphic novel, which he describes as ‘the Justice League of Victorian England’ the source material has a lot of potential… Give it to Matthew Vaughn?

Television

Gotham is due to introduce two new villains, most likely working as a pair, in the second season, a male DC villain who is intelligent, cultured and highly articulate and a female companion who is in her mid 20’s. With the Joker being played by a young actor of the same sort of age as Bruce Wayne, we can’t really expect this to be Harley Quinn, so possibly a more vague female villain from the rogue’s gallery?

Games

Battlefield Hardline‘s first piece of DLC; Criminal Activity, has its first trailer/official reveal, which you can check out here. The trailer features new maps, new items, new that sort of thing.

Amiibos are pretty neat, but now they’re pretty cute, with their inclusion into Yoshi’s Wooly World, tapping an Amiibo onto the Wii U gamepad will cause another Yoshi to appear on screen, allowing you to solve more puzzles and have twice the fun, ALSO, the amiibo you use will transform yoshi into a newly knitted version based off of that character.

Chris Pratt introduces his Dino-pack, Matt Parkman returns in Heroes Reborn and Batman Arkham Knight gets a live action trailer.

Film

Jurassic World is getting close now, and here’s two more TV spots for the next instalment in the ‘life finds a way’ propaganda movie series, the first features Chris Pratt’s character introducing the Raptor Pack, while the second is an explanation of why they felt the need to BUILD A NEW DINOSAUR.

We get a look at each of the Fantastic Four’s powers in this new promo– beware, it’s actually an add for a movie app.

Remember a while ago we spoke about the BBC drama that would be based around the creation of the GTA series? It was to be titled Game Changer, well, Take-Two Interactive have filed for a lawsuit against the BBC for copyright infringement. So, did someone not like the script?

Television

Heroes Reborn is bringing back yet another familiar face, in the form of psychic cop/magic painter Matt Parkman played by Greg Grunberg. Previously a staple of the original series, Parkman was one of the lead investigator into the Sylar murders (you know, when that show was great.)

Fans of the Flash and Arrow have a long wait ahead of them until the autumn when the shows return, and no doubt we’ll be covering any new news that turns up until then, like this, two videos in which the shows’ creators are chatting about the upcoming seasons.

Games

Battlefield Hardline will get its first of four planned expansions in June, it’s been announced, Criminal Activity will include new maps, weapons and cars as well as a new game mode, check the full list of features out here.

A trailer for the next instalment in the Game of Thrones Telltale game series is out now, with the actual chapter releasing next week across platforms.

There’s a new trailer for Batman Arkham Knight, with a twist; this one is life action, and instead of focussing on gameplay, it’s all about capturing the feel of being Batman, you know, one of the things these games do really well is making you feel like an absolute badass.

Because you’re Batman.

Good Vibrations

This week I’m going to be talking about good vibes! And no, I haven’t had a personality transplant. “Good vibes” is not a phrase I use often, if at all really, but after watching Kyle Bosman’s most recent episode of The Final Bosman on Good Vibes and Metroid Prime it’s all I can think about.

Like myself Kyle Bosman is a fairly straight laced individual, we both wear ties during a normal week, and formality tends to be the norm. Yet every now and then both of us can make statements that are out of the norm; and today I’m all about the good vibes! *puts on shades* *then takes them off because the screen is no longer viewable*

So why good vibes? Well the context for it is “game feel”. When you’re playing a game and there is just something about it that feels right. In essence it’s pure subjectivity. Hyrule Warriors might warrant a solid score of 7, but that game is full of good vibes! It’s satisfying wailing on hundreds of Zelda themed enemies and for me a considerable amount of the vibes comes from the excellent soundtrack, which is a collection of remixes of the classic Legend of Zelda music we all know and love.

In a way Nintendo are the masters of good vibes. It helps that their games are solid pieces of entertainment, if a Nintendo game was released in the same state as Assassin’s Creed: Unity then something has gone very wrong at Nintendo (and in the world). It is very rare for a Nintendo developed game to get a low score, meaning it is very difficult to say a Nintendo game is bad. Yet Kyle makes the good point that just because we think Captain Toad is a brilliant game, doesn’t mean everyone will like it. I might experience good vibes from it, but that doesn’t mean it will gel with everyone.

Recently I took advantage of Nintendo’s very generous deal for release of the Metroid Prime Trilogy on the WiiU. The Metroid Prime series is interesting because whilst I agree with Kyle about the good vibes that come from the original Metroid Prime, as a game I’m not a huge fan of it, mostly because I found the controls too clunky and this got in the way. Yet the games atmosphere is almost unmatched. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption on the other hand does not excel in the same well in regards to its atmosphere. Don’t get me wrong, it does have a really good feel to it, but nowhere near to the same extent as the original. However, the controls make the game so much more engaging, and as a result I’m enjoying my time with Corruption so much more, and therefore I’m in the minority for actually preferring Corruption over the original. That is the power of good vibes. Although I haven’t tried out the original using the motion controls, so that might change.

Of course there are non-Nintendo examples of this. Just last night I tried out the Battlefield Hardline beta. The interesting thing about playing the beta was that by the end of the evening I was having so much fun that it was distracting me from playing the game properly. The aim of the game is to shoot people, yet I was perfectly content messing about half way up a skyscraper and parachuting, or just faffing about in a helicopter. Getting a good score no longer became a concern of mine. In a sense the game failed. It wasn’t just me, I noticed as I went on the total scores of everyone else  dropped ever lower as well. Congratulations to EA for making a fun FPS, but as a competitive shooter it needs refining. So in this scenario the good vibes were of a detriment to the core game, which is a pretty unique situation for a game of this nature to be in.

Of course there are plenty of games with bad vibes, I think it’s safe to say that microtransactions are a considerable source of bad vibes (once again I’m looking at you Unity), but today I’m all about the good vibes. Some of my favourite games have received bad review scores, yet for me games like Killer7 and Deadly Premonition are a continued source of good vibes. So don’t worry about what other people say, if a game gives you good vibes, then its all good.

Stay groovy people!

*Next week the New 3DS comes out, so I’ll either have it and I’ll be irrationally praising it, or I’ll still be waiting and will be hyping myself up further like the irrational Nintendo fanboy that I am.*

The one stop shop for all the biggest Superbowl film trailers! We’ve got the seven biggest film trailers from last night’s game as well as our regular news round up!

Film

It’s had a long road (if you car-don the pun, god I hate myself) but Furious 7 is very much alive, and very much exactly what we want from these movies. Stuff like jumping through skyscrapers in sports cars. It also seems like the film’s got heart, which isn’t surprising considering the untimely death of Paul Walker, which was bound to resonate with such a close cast.

Jurassic World, love or hate what you’ve seen so far, you’ve got to admit it looks enticing as all hell. With a little more action in this trailer and a much better look at the new dinosaur (named the Indominus Rex), we also get to see more of the chaos that will reign when she gets loose.

Pixar held out on us last year, after there was no new release from the studio that brought you Toy Story, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, this year we’ll get to see Inside Out, and in this trailer we get a little more of a showcase of the main emotions of the show, also, you know, puppy bowl needs to be a sport now.

Well. Arnie was right, he is certianly back in the new Terminator Genisys trailer. Buses are flipping, shotguns are cocking, the T-1000 is doing his liquid metal thing; the soft-kind-of-reboot-maybe-a-retcon is definitely going to be a spectacle.

Do you have plans this Valentines day? Does it involve going to watch Fifty Shades of Grey with your significant other? A boastful beginning leads to pretty much the same sort of thing we’ve seen in the other trailers, but hey, the book sold millions!

The last marketing push for Legendary’s Seventh Son, which opens in US theatres on the 6th of this month, shows of monsters, magic, swords and Jeff Bridges (who’s sporting the same beard from True Grit I think).

Pitch Perfect was an absolutely delight surprise, so let’s hope that this year’s sequel can deliver to the same standard. The stakes are bigger, and so, we can assume, are the performances. With a host of cameos of both musical and… otherwise (the Greenbay Packers?) this will definitely be bigger than the first.

Television

If you’re anything like me, in that you freaking loved Heroes when it first hit our screens, you’ll want to see this first look at the 13 episode spinoff Heroes Reborn. Featuring HRG (Jack Coleman, a mysterious child who can create an Aura Borealis, and Chuck’s Zachary Levi is all great, but what’s really awesome is that trademark heroes wail.

IZombie has seen a bit more of the daylight recently, though that’s not always a great thing for the undead, but this new trailer shows off a lot more than the one we featured last week, also, call me a ghoul, but that brain salad looks  kind of tasty.

David Duchovny could return to Twin Peaks as well as the X-files, He seems pretty hedgy about returning to both, but at the same time, sort of confident. I think he knows more than he’s letting on.

Games

Now normally we don’t feature mobile games on this site, especially those that carry the ability to be as exploitive as Clash of Clans, but the new trailer is actually pretty damn entertaining. Need more convincing? It features Liam f*cking Neeson.

This Month Xbox live members can download IDARB for free if they’re on Xbox One or if you’re on the 360 you can grab the phenomenal Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons up until the 16th, and after that you can bag yourself Sniper Elite V2

Battlefield Hardline is getting another open beta this month, starting tomorrow (Feb 3rd) and ending on the 8th, the beta will feature 3 maps, and a gamemode entitle heist so yes, Battlefield, which isn’t even out yet, is getting heists before GTA.

Coffee Time News 21/01/15

John Malkovich takes on Zombies in CoD DLC, no Patrick Stewart or Ian McKellan in Xmen Apocalypse and Walking Dead season 5 gets a trailer!

Film

Bad news for Stewart and McKellan fans, it looks like they won’t be appearing in Xmen Apocalypse.  Which could be for the best, since, while Days of Future Past was great, the over saturation of characters led to some criminally short screen time.

Good news Ben Affleck fans, Afflecks’ Batman, who we’ll see for the first time in 2016’s Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice may also appear in 2016’s Suicide Squad, in a cameo role, or potentially more.

After the huge events of The Interview and its release late last year, Netflix has announced that the Seth Rogan and James Franco film, which sees their two characters attempting to kill North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un, will be available to stream on the 24th of January.

Television

Powers, the show based on the Brian Michael Bendis graphic novel, has got a release date, the 10th of March when the first three episodes of the show will be available on the Playstation website, and is free to anyone with a PS+ subscription.

There’s a new trailer for the next half of the Walking Dead season 5, ‘find hope’ is available to watch on Youtube. GO! NOW! Before the Zombies come on February 8th!

The moment we’ve all been waiting for, Justin Bieber will be roasted by Comedy Central this Spring. He seems pretty keen for it, but, let’s face it, this isn’t going to end well for him. Or it will and we’ll all be surprised, then I’ll be in the underground shelter because the apocalypse is nigh

Games

Call of Duty fans should check out the new trailer for the Exo-Zombies mode, which features John Malkovich, Bill Paxton, Rose McGowan, and Jon Bernthal, oh and Zombies, in exo suits.

Borderlands, the Handsome Collection, which features Borderlands 2 and Borderlands the Pre-sequel, and all the DLC that comes with them. (The handsomest of deals) is coming to PS4 and Xbox One on the 27th of March. Not only that but there’s a special edition that contains a remote control Claptrap, with a camera. But there’s only 5,000 of the units being made.

EA have announced that Battlefield Hardline will be available early for Xbox One owners who have subscribed to EA Access for a four day period (with 6 hours of gameplay allowed in total) before it is released in mid March, and all saves and progress will carry over the the full game.

Coffee Time News 14/11/14

Film

I present to you a collection of Mockingjay Part 1 clips and previews, as well as an interview with some of the cast courtesy of Screen Rant.

There’s also a third trailer for Ridley Scott’s Biblical epic Exodus Gods and Kings starring Christian ‘I’m Batman’ Bale.

Christoph Waltz, who you might remember from any Tarantino film in the last few years, could be the main antagonist for the next Bond film.

Television

Here’s a cheeky preview of the Doctor Who Christmas special, warning though, spoilers for season 8 are ahead.

The guys at Screen Rant have compiled a little list of the things that Agents of SHIELD could be heading towards after the latest episode ‘The Writing on the Wall’, including the Inhumans.

The Clock King was a villain in season 2 of Arrow who was promptly sent to jail, well, it looks like he’s escaped and is back on the warpath, but this time in Flash’s Central City.

Games

Heists are coming to GTA V! Finally! Oh wait, no release date? So we’re exactly where we were 3 months ago. But I think we all knew they wouldn’t appear until the Next Gen launch.

Battlefield Hardline is taking a bit of a new approach to the usual Battlefield fare. This video shows stealth mechanics as well as an arrest system all wrapped up in the destructible environments of Battlefield.

There’s a trailer for Tales from the Borderlands out as well, it’s full of that Borderlands charm (and by that I mean Handsome Jack).

Coffee Time News 23/07/14

Film

Straight out of the whole Antman drama, Edgar Wright has signed up to direct Baby Driver, which apparently will be a collision of Crime, Action, Music and Sound.

Hey look, a new image from The Hobbit, The Battle of The Five Armies is here, and look, Gandalf!

Could Gwendoline Christie be playing a sith in Star Wars episode 7? COULD SHE? I don’t know, but it’s possible.

Television

Both Hugo Strange and Harvey Dent have been announced for Gotham season 1, which might not be a bad thing, as both these characters could see a slow burn to villainy over the series.

Because episode 7 is a while away, why not fill your Star Wars boots with some animated shows? Like Star Wars Rebels perhaps?

the Arrow executive producer has teased season 3’s big bad, and apparently it’s a different sort of agenda that drives this fellow compared to the villains of the first 2 seasons.

Games

Destiny fans, the Beta was due to be down for a few days, but it’s back up a day early, and totally ready for Xbox players to jump in!

Battlefield Hardline has been delayed until 2015, and this looks to be because of the Beta feedback, which isn’t a bad thing.

The Goron Sage Darunia, Zora Sage Ruto and finally Shiek have been added to the roster of Hyrule Warriors, no footage yet, but you know we’ll be featuring it when it comes.
