Two new TV spots for Age of Ultron, New Game of Throne clips and new Evolve Hunters to send you away for the weekend!

Film

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is going to produce and star in a Fraggle Rock movie. The property, for those too young to remember, was from puppet master Jim Henson. Apparently Levitt will be working with Jim Henson’s daughter, Lisa Henson, to bring the project to life faithfully.

Deadpool has its logo, it also has two casting announcements; Firefly alum Morena Baccarin (who you may also recognise from Gotham) will be playing Copy Cat, a shape shifter/power mimic who gets the hots for Deadpool. And T.J. Miller (Silicon Valley, Big Hero 6) will be playing Weasel, Deadpool’s sidekick/friend.

Two new TV Spots for Age of Ultron appeared last night, both with a little bit more footage. We’re getting to the point now where I don’t want to see any more trailers, just so they don’t give away too much. (No, I couldn’t just not watch them) but that sick motorcycle flip and the home run with the shield looks great. Also, Quicksilver has an actual accent.

Television

Good news Community fans, Ken Jeong has come out and said that he never wants to leave the show. So, it looks like there won’t be any chang-ing his mind about that. (I’ll leave.)

A few new Agents of SHIELD posters are floating around; one sees the return of Jake Chisel Grant Ward, and Agent 33. But more exciting is the appearance of Edward James Olmos’ character, who is set to be a foil for Coulson.

Myrcella Baratheon and Trystane Martell appear in these new images for Game of Thrones season 5, as well as two extended clips that we’ve seen parts of in trailers featuring Tyrion and Varys and Jon and Mance.

Games

You can check out the next set of Hunters for Turtle Rock’s Evolve here, along with some information about the four of them, (it’s a little scarce, more to come I imagine) the hunters, as well as the new monster the Behemoth and two new maps, are coming as part of the first DLC out on March 31st, though the maps will be free (but will be coming to PS4 and PC almost a month later, on April 30th.

Star Wars Battlefront will be shown at a Star Wars celebration event in April. Developed at DICE (Battlefield, Mirrors Edge) the previous entries into the series have seen great huge space battles. Also, there’s a Star Wars celebration event in April apparently.

Hideo Kojima, a lead developer in the Metal Gear franchise, could leave Konami before the year is out. There’s a lot of discussion on the issue here at Gamespot, who know a fair bit more about it than us.

Cabin in the Woods’ Drew Goddard to direct Spiderman, Wet Hot American Summer prequel gets a release date, Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 is suddenly released.

Film

Jurassic World would like to build your excitement in the form of these seven pieces of artwork featuring all new dinosaurs for the film (not hybrids like the film’s Big Bad, but dinos that we’ve not seen properly yet). Is this doing it for you? Are you excited yet? I mean, if you’re not excited by motorcycle chasing raptors you might be a lost cause.

Good news Jackman fans. We all know that Hugh Jackman is Wolverine, and it looks like he’s not got any plans to stop soon (I keep using my birthday wishes to get an Old Man Logan film) as in an interview (most likely promoting Chappie) when asked whether or not he’d be featuring in Deadpool he avoided the question and said it would be cool, and he’d be open to the idea. DO IT HUGH.

Drew Goddard, who some of you might know as the writer/director for Cabin in the Woods, writer for Alias and Buffy the Vampire Slayer as well as his work on the upcoming Daredevil Netflix show, has been confirmed as the director for the Spiderman film that will combine the MCU and Sony, reportedly titled Spectacular Spiderman. With his history of working with Joss Whedon and the Daredevil show it looks like we could get a film series that will complement the universe that Marvel has set up thus far.

Television

Come meet the Kingpin from Netflix’s Daredevil played by Vincent D’Onofrio in these new images (we finally see his face!) he’s imposing enough, but in honesty? He kind of looks like a doughy Phil Mitchell.

Netflix has released a whole load of premier dates for their shows, Season 3 of Orange is the New Black gets a June 12th release while the much anticipated Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp comes in a month later on July 17th. For the rest of the list, which includes Sense8 and a heap of Stand up specials, check out Screenrant.

Finally for TV we’ve got a full length trailer for season 3 of Orphan Black, a show full of intrigue and secrets only gets more so after the defeat of DYAD.

Games

So, out of freakin’ nowhere (as is this series kind of deal) Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 is out! It’s available on Steam for £5.59, but you probably don’t need to play it, since every let’s player on Youtube will be covering it in the next few weeks.

Yacht Club Games has announced the first piece of DLC for Shovel Knight, named Plague of Shadows. It will feature fan favourite boss ‘Plague Knight’ and his quest to find potion ingredients, it will feature new paths in familiar levels as well as completely new levels. Plague Knight himself will have a whole new moveset to Shovel Knight, meaning it’s a whole new game, basically. Oh, and it’s free! (it’s just, not out yet.)

Finally, Final Fantasy X/X2 HD Remastered has been announced for the PS4 and will release on May 12th in North America.

50 Shades Director looking for a way out, Last Week Tonight gets 2 more years and Zoombinis could be returning!

Film

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has not only begun filming, but also has a synopsis available:
“Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.” – Pirate Nemesis? Check. Jack Sparrow down on his luck? Check. Mystical sea-based Mcguffin? Check. Yep. It’s a Pirates movie!

Fifty Shades of Grey dominated the box office this weekend (pun reluctantly intended), taking in over £13,000,000, breaking box office records for: 2015’s opening weekend, highest ever grossing Valentine’s weekend, and biggest non sequel opening. But amidst all that money is some resentment: Director Sam Taylor-Johnson has reportedly begun the process of getting out of her 3 film contract after huge disagreements with writer E.L. James on set. Claiming that the experience made her question whether or not she wanted to make another movie again.

Yesterday we announced that Deadpool was looking for actors, well, while the X-men character Colossus will be returning, the actor who portrayed him in his three appearances (Daniel Cudmore) will not be returning to the role. Perhaps this will give us a chance to see a Russian Colossus?

Television

Powers, the Playstation exclusive show that focusses on a world where super powers are abundant and part of culture, has a new feature which is really worth a look if you’re interested in comics/television and the movement between the two.

Here’s a promo for the Gotham episode ‘Red Hood’, in which Gordon and Bullock will have to look into the violent red hood gang. With the potential introduction of the Joker in the last episode, the show is really teasing us with potential origin points for the clown prince of crime.

John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight, has been renewed for two more seasons through to 2017. Which is great news, as the show is an excellent examination of current events and issues. This also means that it will now be harder for Oliver to leave the HBO show, to do something else, like, oh I don’t know, fill the seat left by Jon Stewart last week.

Games

Mac users ahoy! Sims 4 is now out for Mac, and if you already own the PC version, you get one for free!

Does anyone remember Zombinis? The ‘Edutainment’ game with little blue fellows that you customised and put through logic trials? Well, after re-acquiring the rights, creators TERC have started up a pretty modest kickstarter goal of $50,000 to remake the game for modern audiences and devices.

Halo: Nightfall is the live action bridge between Halo 4 and Halo 5 and will be released digitally on March 17th.

New Spectre, Daredevil Images. The Flash gets time travel based trailer and Twitch Plays Pokemon is back!

Film

District 9 and Chappie director Neill Blomkamp has previously expressed his enthusiasm for making an Alien film, mostly by showing off his concept art via twitter, but now another cog in the Alien machine has fallen into place: sci fi queen Sigourney Weaver has expressed her interest in rejoining the franchise.

A behind the scenes video for SPECTRE, the new Bond film from Skyfall director Sam Mendes, has appeared as well as a new shot of Daniel Craig’s Bond in a skiing get up very reminiscent of ‘ye olde bond films’.

Ryan Reynolds would like to remind everyone that Deadpool is only one year away, and to do so, he’s shared some prototype images for the costume, which we’ve been assured will be true to the character. Also, it’s in sepia, which, according to Reynolds, disguises the fact that it is in fact, ballerina pink.

Television

Speaking of new images, Marvel have shared a new one from Netflix’s Daredevil, you can also check out some of the shots from the trailer that have been released in all their still glory.

The Flash episode 14 will be the episode that we see time travel first used, now we’ve known that it’s a part of the series for a while now but it will be incredibly exciting to see just how they pull it off, apparently it’s going to take Barry some time to train to use the Speedforce, so you know, hilarious time travel times could be a-coming.

James Franco is to star in 11/22/63, based on the Stephen King novel of the same name. Featuring time travel, JFK and a series of events that prove that changing the stream of time isn’t as easy as we think, 11/22/63 will air on HULU and will be a 9 hour miniseries.

Games

Bungie will be making it easier for you to check your faction reputation in Destiny in the next update for the game, check out the details here.

It’s been a whole year since the internet banded together, raised a fossil to a god and played through the first Pokemon game. For those who remember it, it was a wild ride full of, well, pressing the wrong buttons. Anyway, Twitch Plays Pokemon is back! They’ve already lost a battle to their god Omanyte, twice. And the community seems to be moving their allegiance to the map. ALL PRAISE THE MAP.

Lara Croft will be fighting bears in the new Tomb Raider game that will be released later this year, not only that, but the placement of enemies, beasties and what not will be different depending on the time of day and the weather. Neat.

The Hobbit: the Tolkien edit, a four hour cut of the entire trilogy, the PSN 10% sale hits this weekend and Deadpool to film in Canada.

Film

Fans of the 90’s Saban kids show Power Rangers should rejoice. Actor Jason David Frank (who played Tommy, the Green and the white Ranger, the coolest rangers), has announced that the live action film should start production this year, ready for release in 2016.

In other production news, Deadpool, the film that’s been hurried into production after the test footage leaked last year, will be filming in Vancouver, and will start soon.

A dedicated fan of the Hobbit has laboured away to condense the entire Hobbit Trilogy (a total run time of nearly 8 hours) into a manageable 4 hours (Well, and a half, as the creator says, those are some long ass credits) he’s titled it the Tolkien Cut. Over on his blog you can see what he deemed worthy of cutting, as well as his reasons for doing so. It’s mostly to be true to the book and to reinstate Bilbo as the story’s focal point. A really great job all around and definitely worth looking at.

Television

With the Flash returning to our screens tonight, here’s a little bit of concept art for the terrifying Man in the Yellow Suit, courtesy of deviant artist John Gallagher.

Danny DeVito has weighed in with his opinion on Gotham’s Penguin. Saying that Robin Lord Taylor is ‘A very good young Penguin’ and a ‘terrific actor’. Which should mean a lot coming from the man who took on the role in 1992.

Games

Dying Light, the free-running, crafting, Zombie survival horror game, has had its physical release delayed in Europe, but the digital release will go ahead as planned on the 27th of January, a week’s time!

Club Nintendo, the Nintendo wide reward scheme, will be closing this year, with a time frame starting in April, when codes will cease appearing in physical game copies, all the way until September, when your stars won’t be ‘legal tender’ anymore. Read more here.

PS4 Owners, this weekend is time to bulk buy all the games, DLC and add ons you’ve wanted, as the Playstation Store 10% reduction is kicking in for this weekend only. As an apology for the Christmas downtime Sony is offering 10% off of a basket purchase on any games and DLC, but not movies, music or shows, rental or otherwise.

The Ant-man trailer cometh, Bourne 5, and Majora’s Mask special edition

Film

For anyone who missed it last night, the first trailer for this year’s Ant-man starring Paul Rudd has arrived. We don’t get to see him go big yet, but we do see him ride an ant, and joke about the fact that Ant-man changes his name like every week.

Deadpool casting rumours point to a ‘sidekick’ and the big bad. The sidekick, or ‘addition comic voice to accompany Deadpool’, is to be played by T.J Miller, and could be his fractured psyche or Deadpool’s best/wost friend Weasel. The Villain, who’s character is yet unnamed, will be played by Ed Skrein.

Bourne 5 looks to be taking the spot left void by Planet of the Apes 3 to give it some distance from the third Star Trek film in July of next year, the 29th to be precise.

Television

Agent Carter aired last night, and for those who have seen it you might be interested in this piece which talks about the way that Agent Carter’s 8 week run will fit into the greater story.

In other Marvel news, before Christmas we spoke briefly about Clark Gregg teasing Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye appearing in Agents of SHIELD. Well that’s looking more and more likely as Renner has recently shared that he is once again suiting up.

Game of Thrones, as Spring is nearly here (which let’s face it is a worse tagline than Winter is Coming), will be seeing another resurgence in publicity, and what better than the last 3 episodes of season 4 airing in select Imax cinemas in North America.

Games

Destiny players will be getting a ‘legendary token of gratitude’ from Bungie this week, they also shared on twitter that some of you may dismantle it pretty quickly, so it looked like we’ll be getting a legendary engram,

Majora’s Mask’s special edition will include a Skull Kid figurine, which you can take a look at here. So far this is only for the US, but hopefully we’ll see it in England soon too.

Assassins’ Creed Unity continues its attempt to get on your good side by offering the first piece of DLC, Dead Kings, for free. See, if the game had worked on launch, you’d be paying for that.

Coffee Time News 05/12/14

Film

Three big parts of casting news today in our news roundup;

We can finally stop calling it Bond 24, and use it’s real name; Spectre is the next instalment in the Bond franchise and will see a returning cast of Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Wishaw and Naomie Harris as well as newcomers Dave Bautista, Christoph Waltz and Monica Bellucci among others. Spectre will be released October23rd next year.

Ryan Reynolds is officially Deadpool, and not that abomination from Xmen Origins (Fox that’s another thing I’ll never forgive you for) but as the Merc with the Mouth that we saw in the test footage a few months ago. Deadpool will be produced as a combination of Fox and Marvel studios, and is set for release in Febuary 2016.

Benedict Cumberbatch continues his rule of pop culture that spans Tolkien, Doyle and now Marvel; after a very circular rumour mill, it’s been announced that he will in fact be playing the role of soon to be sorcerer supreme Doctor Strange.

Television

After our two part feature on the Flash and Arrow this week, today’s television news mainly focusses on the team up, first of all is the news that ‘The Brave and the Bold’, the 8th episode of Arrow’s third season that saw The Flash in Starling City, recieved the show’s highest viewing figures since the pilot, which should be encouraging to those who loved the team up episodes.

We’ve also got a promo for the mid season finale for both of the shows, with Arrow ending with ‘The Climb’ and the Flash ending with ‘The Man in The Yellow Suit’.

On the Marvel front it seems that the Netflix incarnation of Jessica Jones has a face in Breaking Bad’s Krysten Ritter, With this casting news it’s sensible to think that Jessica Jones will be the next series for Netflix after Daredevil next year.

Games

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare sees it’s biggest patch start its tour yesterday, it sees a huge amount of weapon tweaking for multiplayer.

Borderlands the Presequel sees its next big batch of DLC in Holodome Onslaught, which will act as a Colosseum/Thunderdome style arena update.

And back to DC; Lego Batman 3 sees the Suicide Squad making an appearance in the next DLC, but to be a bit more family friendly they’ve renamed it ‘The Squad’.
