Ready Player One’s release date, Fallout 4’s lack of level cap and the Flash casts Wally West.

Film

Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Ernest Cline novel Ready Player One has now got a release date; December 15th 2017. For those unfamiliar, Ready Player One’s synopsis can be found here.

Vin Diesel is the Last Witch Hunter, and he’s not afraid of anything in this second trailer which sets up the world, mythology and characters a little bit more. Also, we get Michael Caine telling us that Vin can’t die, so there’s that.

After scheduling conflicts lead to the departure of J.K Simmons and Michael Keaton, Skull Island was down two men, well now it looks like they’ve found replacements, in the form of Samuel L Jackson and John C. Reilly.

Television

The Flash is getting yet another incarnation of the Scarlet Speedster, along with the golden age Flash Jay Garrick, who will be played by Teddy Sears, Wally West, a character whose name has been thrown about a lot recently, will be a season regular in season two and will be played by Insurgent actor Keiynan Lonsdale.

October 29th will see a TV crossover between Bones and Sleepy Hollow, but what the hell will be happening? Good thing you asked, since a synopsis has just been released for both shows’ episodes.

Fox is up to their old tricks again. Literally, they’re continuing their slew of revivals with Prison Break, which will see the return of Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell.

Games

Cities: Skylines has its first expansion on the horizon, and it’s bringing in a day/night cycle, which isn’t just for aesthetics sake, and will effect the simulation, because we all know things are a little different at night.

Unravel is looking to be one of those adorable little brain benders with an amazing soundtrack, beautiful visuals and a lovely message, you should really check out this three minute video showcasing the gameplay.

Fallout 4 will have no level cap and, in a departure from the series (pre DLC) the game won’t finish once the main story is done with, says Bethesda. Along with changing how the enemies level with you, this could be a great addition to the series, since many players just long to spend as much time as possible in the Fallout world.

First look at the new Ghostbusters movie, Daredevil Se2 starts filming and introduces a cast Elektra and Fallout 4 wins E3’s best of show.

Film

The Ghostbusters Reboot starring Melissa McCarthy and directed by Paul Feig is gaining momentum and now the director has released the first image of the new Ecto-1, which is ever so different from the original. Also, the first image of McCarthy in her new uniform.

The final instalment of the Hunger Games series, Mockingjay Part 2, is on its way, and along with it comes a new host of nifty looking posters.

The Wire‘s Michael K. Williams has been cast as a character with ‘a major stake in the franchise’ in the upcoming Assassins’ Creed movie, he’s also recently been cast in the Ghostbusters reboot.

Television

Daredevil season 2 has begun filming already, and some set photos have emerged right away, as well as that, it’s been revealed that Elodie Yung has joined the cast as Elektra, flashback? Return? Who knows. (probably both)

A few months ago Harry Shearer, voice of many iconic Simpsons characters including Skinner, Flanders and Mr Burns, left the show shortly after the announcement that it had been given two more seasons. Well, he’s back now.

Hayley Atwell, star of Agent Carter, has confirmed that Dominic Cooper (who played Howard Stark in Captain America and the first season) will be returning in season 2.

Games

Dragon Age Inquisition has a new DLC coming, but there’s a catch, it’s only for current gen consoles, as will all future updates of the game.

Destiny players who have done… a buttload of stuff in the first year of the game, will be getting a brand new, exclusive, never to be seen again, emblem for their efforts.

Fallout 4 has taken away the Best of Show award at E3 2015, which, given its sudden and immediate launch coming up, isn’t a surprise (I think the awarders may have shell shock still,) check here for the rest of the winners.

Film

The first teaser trailer for Snowden the Oliver Stone film about Edward Snowden, the NSA whistleblower, is out. The film will star Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Zachary Quinto and Nick Cage among others.

Terminator Genisys is out tomorrow, and ahead of the franchise reboot we’ve got a clip that is a quick look at the future in the Terminator universe.

Two short clips from the Xmen Days of Future Past Rouge Cut have appeared. One shows Beast and Mystique getting hot and heavy, while the other shows Iceman taking some heat.

Television

Heroes Reborn is really ramping up the marketing, and now has released motion posters for 4 characters including old face Noah Bennet.

The BBC trust has approved of the decision to make BBC3 an online only channel, due to its younger demographic and programming style it’s considered a prime candidate for the change.

Games

Mojang, the guys behind Minecraft (that was recently bought by Microsoft) have announced that they will no longer be updating their only other released game, the trading card/turn based strategy game Scrolls, but insist that the servers will stay up until at least the 1st of July 2016.

Nolan, voice-of-everyone-who-isn’t-voiced-by-Troy-Baker, North has let the cat out of the bag and has outright said that he knows that Naughty Dog are doing a The Last of Us 2, though nothing’ been confirmed officially yet.

Fallout 4 gets a release date and a huge crafting feature, Dishonored 2 announced and Jurassic World destroys Box Office records.

Film

Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight was filmed entirely in 70mm, something that a lot of the marketing material is lording about, well we now have an opening date for that format, as the film will begin showing in 70 mm theatres on the 25th of December this year, with the regular theatrical release some two weeks later in January.

Jurassic World has claimed its place at the top of the boxoffice food chain by having the highest grossing box office opening ever. Of all time. No wonder Chris Pratt is signed on for the sequels already.

A new clip and trailer have appeared for the Ben Kingsley/ Ryan Reynolds body swap thriller Self/less which could be a really fantastic sci-fi experience, assuming it’s not, you know, terrible.

Television

A piece of leaked dialogue has given us a look into the sort of big bad we could be seeing in Arrow season 4; he’s in control, he’s knowledgeable about Oliver’s past enemies and he’s familiar with Ra’s. Damien Darhk? Probably.

Season 3 of Agents of SHIELD will begin airing on September 28th, with, we assume, Agent Carter season 2 airing once again in the mid season break.

Games

Ahead of James’ E3 coverage this week, I’m going to report the big announcements of Bethesda’s first ever E3 conference.

First up, Dishonored 2 was announced. Set some time in the future, with revolt and pestilence once again rife, the game will see Emily Kaldwin all grown up and gifted powers by the Outsider taking the fate of the city into her own hands. We see some of the familiar gadgets and abilities in the announcement trailer alongside new doo-hickeys too.

Alongside that, Dishonored Definitive Edition was announced to be released for current gen this autumn and will be a remastering of the game as well as (we assume,) the DLC.

Fallout 4 news though; release date of November 10th of THIS YEAR. Which is barely any time at all when you think about how long we’ve been waiting for the likes of Arkham Knight since its announcement. It will have a lot of focus on crafting, with every item you find in the world having a use, though we’re assured this isn’t ‘necessary’ and is an optional part of the game, who wouldn’t want to make their own thriving wasteland settlement? It’s like Civilisation, with more super mutants. One more thing you can customise? Your character’s power armour.

If you liked the sound of that and want to see more, head on over to Kotaku for a comprehensive Bethesda run down, along with videos, trailers and more sweet sweet details.

Guardians 2 to feature less characters, Star Trek 3 to feature more species and Andy Samberg and Kit Harrington star as two tennis players in the world’s longest game.

Film

Another new TV spot for Terminator Genisys and Jurassic World have surfaced ahead of the films’ releases on the 1st of July and the 11th of June respectively.

For a series famed for its multitude of alien species and what no, the Star Trek film series really hasn’t explored the galaxy’s inhabitants all that much; sure there was that cult from the second film, and the romulans and vulcans make their appearances, but so far it’s been a very human lead story. Well, not anymore, as Star Trek 3 will include more new worlds and species.

Those fearing, that James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will be similar to Age of Ultron in scope and character inclusion can breath a sigh of relief, as Gunn has come out to say that the sequel will actually include less characters, with more focus aimed at existing ones, with only one or two new faces being introduced.

Television

Another day, another Heroes cast member returns to Heroes reborn. This time it’s Noah Gray-Cabey who will be turning back up onto set, he played the young character Micah who, if you can remember, could talk to machines.

Agents of SHIELD season 3 sure is racking up the regulars; Mack, played by Henry Simmons will be returning, but this time as a series regular (though I’m pretty sure he was in every episode of season 2…)

7 Days in Hell is the name of the mockumentary starring Andy Samberg (Brooklyn 99) and Kit Harrington (Game of Thrones), it tells the ‘story’ of the world’s longest tennis game, a 7 day, 5 set match. Check out the trailer here, it looks pretty great.

Games

For those of you who missed it on Wednesday afternoon, Fallout 4 has been confirmed and there’s a trailer waiting right here for you. The sequel looks to be set in Boston, it looks colourful, and it looks like the protagonist is going to talk.

After a leak of Playstation Store details, Sony have confirmed that the Uncharted Collection, which will include all 3 Uncharted games optimised for the current generation, will be coming in October. Those who buy this will also get access to the Uncharted 4 Online Beta.

A new Ant-man TV spot, Eddie Redmayne officially cast as Newt Scamander and a Fallout 4 announcement could be imminent.

Film

Yesterday we had a load of high resolution images from Ant-man, and today we’ve got an extended TV spot for the next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Featuring a heap of new footage and a lot more comedy, this TV spot is the trailer we’ve been waiting for.

It’s not really a surprise considering that The Theory of Everything‘s Eddie Redmayne has been the only contender for the role of Newt Scamander, but he’s been officially cast as the Magizooligist for the upcoming Harry Potter Spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The Dark Tower adaptation has had a long road, it’s been through two different studios before ending up at Sony, it’s seen plans to be a series of films, a series of films with television accompaniments, but now it seems it’s found its director; Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair) is in talks to direct the first instalment of Roland’s adventure.

Television

More Heroes Reborn casting news; Mohinder Suresh (played by Sendhil Ramamurthy) will return as a guest star in the upcoming spin-off.

Ever since Arrested Development was revived on Netflix, there’s been mutterings of a fifth season on the online streaming service, and executive producer Brian Grazer has said that shooting of the fifth season could begin in January next year, with the airdate being some four months after that.

Games

Destiny has received a much needed patch that effects a whole heap of stuff, including item drops, specifically treasure keys, and stackable ammo consumables. Also in the pot is the potential title of the next expansion, thanks to a Red Bull promotion, the next DLC could be titled ‘The Taken King’.

The  new Guitar Hero have released 54 track names for songs that you can jam/rock/shred out to when the game is released, with a fair variety, including Ed Sheeran, Tenacious D, Alt J and The Rolling Stones.

Some time yesterday a countdown time appeared right here. Now, Fallout fans will recognise that screen immediately, since we’ve seen it a thousand times in loading screens and our dreams. Basically, at 3 PM today, we will almost definitely be getting some Fallout 4 news.

If not this is a cruel cruel trick.

Hateful Eight Images, Batwing Concept Art, A heap of new season trailers, and Fallout 4 seems closer than ever…

Film

Jurassic World, it’s less than a month away, so I guess we’re all full steam ahead on the ol’ promotional material, because right here over at Flickering Myth we’ve got four new TV spots for the next film in the ‘life finds a way’ saga.

The Hateful Eight, is also going into full swing, EW have a gallery of great looking behind the scenes shots of Tarantino’s next piece. They’re all here; Kurt Russell, Samuel El Jackson, Copious amounts of violence (probably).

We know from that trailer we saw that the Batwing will make an appearance in Batman Vs Superman, well now two pieces of concept art for the plane/aircraft have been put out, take a look here and here for different angles of the vehicle (which totally kills those two dudes in that trailer.)

Television

Three new season trailers for you; the first is a season 3 trailer for Orange is the New Black which is due out on Netflix on June 12th (a month away), the second is for Minority Reportwhich will air on Fox this fall, and is based on the film from Spielberg (obviously) and the third is for Lucifer which features the king of hell wanting to take a break, and the chaos that ensues, I guess.

Games

You know Fallout 4? That game that everyone in the world should be excited for? (According to Joe) Well, rumours have been filling the internet, and no more than the recent leaked image of a graphic artist working on a trailer for the game for Mirada studios, now, in light of this, Mirada have emailed Destructoid (one of those who broke the story) stating that this image was violating a Non Disclosure Agreement. So… We’ve definitely getting a Fallout 4 trailer soon right?

A year ago, Assassins’ Creed Unity was causing a to-do because playing as a female character just wasn’t an option, well, Ubisoft seem to be righting their wrongs, as it’s rumoured that you’ll be able to play as a lady in the upcoming entry Assassins’ Creed: Syndicate.
