The Incredibles 2 is next on Brad Bird’s to do list, Gotham to focus on the Joker next season and The Witcher 3 Leaks early.

Film

Brad Bird (Tomorrowland, The Incredibles)  has said that once his run on his newest Disney film, Tomorrowland, is done he’ll be turning his attention to his next project, which will most likely be a sequel to 2004’s The Incredibles, one Pixar movie that has been crying out for a sequel.

It’s finally happening folks, James McAvoy will be BALD for Xmen Apocalypse, whether this will be through choice, some mutant attack, or just MPD, we don’t know, though if he’s tasked with hunting down mutants again using Cerebro, he may choose to shave his head, as you may remember from Xmen First Class, Hank (beast) thinks this would help him. Anyway, looks great, kind of looks like a young Patrick Stewart.

Just to keep you pumped about Jurassic World which is due out on the 12th of June, we’ve got another TV trailer, with a bit more dialogue, a bit more action, but similar beat to the first one we saw all those months ago.

Television

Gotham season 2 will focus heavily on the Joker, according to showrunner Bruno Heller. Heller states that the first part of the upcoming season will centre around the ‘proto-joker’ who we saw played by Cameron Monaghan earlier this season, and will tell the story of how the Joker came to be.

Netflix’s next Marvel series AKA Jessica Jones has a new title teaser, but also a new synopsis, one that confirms that Jones will not be new to having super powers, and will actually have done her time as a hero, before an incident caused her to go into the private detective game.

New images from Heroes Reborn all but confirm that Zachary Levi’s character will be evil (look at those dark clothes, that murky background, that gun he’s probably pointing at a puppy.) as well as some images from returning and new characters. Heroes Reborn will release this autumn.

Games

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is due out next week (May 19th) but some stores have sold early copies, as such spoilers are now abounds on the web, so watch out for those if you wanted to go into the game fresh. Streaming site Twitch has issued an embargo on streaming the game, with some users being banned for breaking this ‘no streaming before May 19th’ rule.

Towerfall Ascension, one of the most fun multiplayer experiences out there, will release its first expansion The Dark World tomorrow in the US on PS4 and PC, with it rolling out to European consoles ‘a few days later’. The expansion introduces new arrow types, heaps of new levels and 4 player co-op for maximum insanity. (we’re pretty excited.)

First scenes from Macbeth starring Fassbender, Just Cause 3 gets a gameplay trailer and The Muppets are coming back to television!

Film

The final trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road is out before the film’s release on May 15th and it’s all about survival, gasoline and a robotic hand. The latest entry into the Mad Max franchise stars Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult.

Some still images for the Macbeth adaptation from director Justin Kurzel have appeared featuring stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, in preparation for its showing at the Cannes film festival.

Joss Whedon has admitted that the Marvel TV shows do ‘complicate’ the creative process of making the Marvel films, referencing the death of Coulson and the fall of SHIELD. Interestingly Joe wrote a piece talking about this only yesterday.

Television

Fans of the Muppets look out, ABC is developing a new series for the puppet gang, (presumably after the lacklustre performance of Muppets Most Wanted) and Bob Kushall has been sharing shots from the show that will apparently ‘explore the personal lives’ of everone’s favourite Muppets.

Starship Troopers, the hilarious, ridiculous and most excellent 1999 sci-fi film which features a young telepathic NPH and giant bugs from space, could be getting a television reboot, it’s in the works, but will it feature an older, telepathic Neil Patrick Harris?

Gotham’s first season is nearly over, and on top of the images from last week we’ve got a new promo which shows off what we can expect from the season Finale titled ‘All Happy Families are Alike.’ With a neat little tease about Bruce Wayne’s dad. Is he alive? Was he Batman? Was he Ben Affleck?

Games

Do you fancy playing absolutely everything in Batman Arkham Knight ? Well to do that you’ll need a season pass, which will run you a small fee of $40, on top of the $60 game, you’re looking at a $100 (maths) for one game. The DLC will be rolled out over six months after the release of the game.

Four years after the launch (heh) of Kerbal Space Program as an Alpha, the game is finally finished. Well, it’s out of the Beta anyway, check out a launch (heh) trailer for the game here.

Also in trailers, take a look at this trailer for the explosion filled, physic defying, mayhem simulator Just Cause 3. The second one filled many an hour at University just, destroying things, tying things to other things…. It’s good mindless fun, here’s hoping the third is more of the same.

Fantastic Four character bios show a change in Reed’s powers, Gears of War gets a remake and Silent Hills gets canned.

Film

A new bunch of information has come out about the Fantastic Four, more specifically the abilities and profiles of the Fantastic Four themselves. You can see a personal bio written by Dr. Franklin Storm (Sue and Johnny’s father) for each of the characters as well as a coy description of their powers. A team full of independent geniuses who prefer working alone.

Age of Ultron’s been out for a weekend now, so we should be seeing some figures about the international release, and we have! With a $201 million opening weekend, The Avengers Age of Ultron surpasses the original by a huge 44%. Baring in mind that it’s not even out in the states until the first of May, this film has potential.

A while back, Daniel Bruhl (Rush, Inglorious Bastards) was rumoured to be playing the role of Baron Zemo in Captain America: Civil War, an iconic Cap. villain who’s a weapons expert and worked beside the Red Skull in the comics, and this has all now been confirmed, though it looks like this could be his son, carrying on his father’s work.

Television

We’ve not featured any Gotham recently, but it’s coming to the end of the 1st season now and we’ve got some images of the season finale courtesy of Flickering Myth.

In the rumour-mill, an interesting one has popped up with regards to Iron Fist the Netflix series that will be the finale standalone before the team up Defenders; there are rumours that Doctor Strange (whether it be a body double of Cumberbatch or the man himself) will appear in the Iron Fist series. With the inclusion of magic and that sort of thing in both Iron Fist’s stories and Doctor Strange’s, it’s not too much of a leap to make sense. Also, it’s worth noting that in the comics Strange had a lot to do with the formation of the Defenders.

Games

The Rolling Stones, Robot Arms, Zombies. It’s time for the new Call of Duty Black Ops 3 trailer. There’s some talk of the moral quandary of when man becomes a weapon which could point towards a really intriguing single player campaign with similar philosophies to Deus Ex and Spec Ops. Or it will be more of the same… We’ll see.

Gears of War will be getting a next gen remastering on XBox One it’s been announced; it will be worked on by UK based developer Splash Damage and will most likely be aimed at a 2016 release, with that being the ten year anniversary of the original release of Gears of War.

Sad news for Silent Hill fans, the project titled Silent Hills (which was teased last year with P.T) is no longer in the making, says Guillermo Del Toro, who was to work on the project with Hideo Kojima. To that end, you have until Wednesday to download P.T if you haven’t already.

Nicholas Cage to star in Snowden, Game of Thrones Bloopers and more GTA Online heist leaks.

Film

James Gunn, director of Guardians of the Galaxy, has responded the recent comments regarding the ‘tsunami’ of superhero movies, focussing on the thought that those who make big budget hero movies don’t put as much love into their work as smaller features.

Nicholas Cage will be reuniting with director Oliver Stone (who previously worked together on World Trade Centre) in the upcoming Edward Snowden film, Snowden which will also star Joseph Gordon Levitt.

Chris Pratt has addressed the Indiana Jones rumours that have been floating about, and has said that while it’d be cool, there’s nothing until there’s something, and that he’d want to do the iconic character justice, so the script would have to be right.

Television

More featurettes on the Red Hood Gang in Gotham, Jim Gordon talks about the introduction of masks and vigilantes in the world of Gotham.

50 Shades Director looking for a way out, Last Week Tonight gets 2 more years and Zoombinis could be returning!

Film

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has not only begun filming, but also has a synopsis available:
“Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.” – Pirate Nemesis? Check. Jack Sparrow down on his luck? Check. Mystical sea-based Mcguffin? Check. Yep. It’s a Pirates movie!

Fifty Shades of Grey dominated the box office this weekend (pun reluctantly intended), taking in over £13,000,000, breaking box office records for: 2015’s opening weekend, highest ever grossing Valentine’s weekend, and biggest non sequel opening. But amidst all that money is some resentment: Director Sam Taylor-Johnson has reportedly begun the process of getting out of her 3 film contract after huge disagreements with writer E.L. James on set. Claiming that the experience made her question whether or not she wanted to make another movie again.

Yesterday we announced that Deadpool was looking for actors, well, while the X-men character Colossus will be returning, the actor who portrayed him in his three appearances (Daniel Cudmore) will not be returning to the role. Perhaps this will give us a chance to see a Russian Colossus?

Television

Powers, the Playstation exclusive show that focusses on a world where super powers are abundant and part of culture, has a new feature which is really worth a look if you’re interested in comics/television and the movement between the two.

Here’s a promo for the Gotham episode ‘Red Hood’, in which Gordon and Bullock will have to look into the violent red hood gang. With the potential introduction of the Joker in the last episode, the show is really teasing us with potential origin points for the clown prince of crime.

John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight, has been renewed for two more seasons through to 2017. Which is great news, as the show is an excellent examination of current events and issues. This also means that it will now be harder for Oliver to leave the HBO show, to do something else, like, oh I don’t know, fill the seat left by Jon Stewart last week.

Games

Mac users ahoy! Sims 4 is now out for Mac, and if you already own the PC version, you get one for free!

Does anyone remember Zombinis? The ‘Edutainment’ game with little blue fellows that you customised and put through logic trials? Well, after re-acquiring the rights, creators TERC have started up a pretty modest kickstarter goal of $50,000 to remake the game for modern audiences and devices.

Halo: Nightfall is the live action bridge between Halo 4 and Halo 5 and will be released digitally on March 17th.

Spiderman, Spiderman, teaming up with Ironman.

Spiderman comes to the MCU, a first look at Gotham’s Joker and Lady Sif returns to Agents of SHIELD.

Film

The signs all pointed this way, and today it was announced that it’s finally happening; get your web slingers and your great powers and responsibilities ready, because SPIDERMAN IS COMING TO THE MCU. The deal is this: Spiderman (most likely to be recast, again) will appear in an MCU instalment (our money is on Captain America: Civil War because, plot.) and will then star in his own movie to be released in July 2017, which will be in the same universe as Stark, Rogers, and Romanov .

The caveat to all this is that all the planned MCU releases after July 2017 (Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Captain Marvel and the Inhumans) will be shifted down to the next release date (Thor moves to Panthers slot of November 2017, etc), while the Inhumans will be moved to July 12 as it’s the last in the chain. It looks like the Avengers: Infinity War parts 1 and 2 will stay where they are, what effect that will have  on the story lines, we’ll have to see.

And for those who are worried about yet another Spidey origin story, think about this; if we’re getting at least a costumed cameo in Civil War (or whatever feature it ends up being) we can’t have an origin story come July 2017, unless they go the lazy way of flashbacks. I say just jump straight in, we all know what happened to Parker.

Any news we report after that is going to sound lacklustre isn’t it? Well, Fifty Shades of Grey already has both sequels in the works, as it was announced on an advanced screening of the film that will be released this weekend, the good money’s on a yearly release schedule of Valentine’s Day.

Speaking of Sequels, Zoolander 2 is to start filming in Rome in the spring, the sequel will presumably see the two stars of the first film (who had given up the fashion game by the end of the original) taking to the European Catwalk, to maybe stop another world war?

Television

Well… That happened quickly. Do you want to see the first glimps of Gotham‘s Joker? Well it’s here. I’m intrigued.

Thor‘s Jaime Alexander, who played Lady Sif in both instalments, will be returning to Agents of SHIELD in the second episode of this half-season. With Amnesia, so while we can expect some light to be shed on the events of the winter finale, the show has a way to cover its tracks. Good old Amnesia.

Fans of Game of Thrones with half an hour to spare might want to check out this behind the scenes feature. Well, it’s nearly time for season 5, so we can expect more of these little treats from HBO as the months go on.

Games

The Xbox One is finally getting a screenshot function, which might not sound like a big deal, but having the option to quickly snap a screen while playing my PS4 has been a great boon to capturing the pretty, funny or just plain mental things that can happen.

Super Smash Brothers for the 3DS is getting an update this week which will open itself up to Amiibo support, with the release of compatible hardware (the New 3DS) at the end of the week, it’s fairly well timed.

Speaking on the New 3DS, if you’re one of those who’s already got a 3DS but want to shift your save files from one t’other, check out this video guide from Nintendo themselves.

Sir Ian McKellen is Sherlock in Mr Holmes. The first trailer for Marvel’s Daredevil arrives and The Joker will appear this season in Gotham.

Film

The first clip of Bill Condon’s Mr Holmes starring Sir Ian McKellen as the 93 year old detective has rolled out. In 1947 Sherlock Holmes has retired to a seaside house and is now tending bees. The film looks to be focussing on Holmes’ decaying mind and memory while he tries to solve his last, unsolved case. It looks sad and sweet and McKellen will most likely smash the role.

Michael Shannon and Kevin Spacey feature in this new image from Liza Johnson’s Elvis & Nixon. The film seems to be set on the morning of 1970, when Elvis appeared on the White House lawn and requested an audience with the president.

Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales is due to start filming this month in Australia, returning to the plot of the original trilogy it’s rumoured to revolve around Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) who took up the mantle of Davy Jones at the end of the third film, and his son.

Television

Home and Away actor Luke Mitchell joins the Agents of SHIELD cast as an Inhuman character, after the revelation of the winter finale, Daisy is going to have to learn to control her new found ability, and the word is that Mitchell’s Lincoln will help her out.

It”s official, the Joke will debut in this season of Gotham, or at least it will scratch the surface of the Joker’s story, whichever road the show decides to take to introduce the clown prince of crime.

Daredevil has its first trailer, it’s dark, it’s gritty, it’s looking to be quite accurate to the Frank Miller storyline Man without Fear even down to the early on vigilante costume we see Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdoch wearing.

Games

Another week, another Destiny patch. The weapons of Bungie’s fps will be getting another overhaul. The reasoning behind this seems to be to get players to start using different weapons, as there’s definitely a trend of assault rifles and shotguns being used a lot in the PvP side of the game.

Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin, seems on the immediate surface to be a mere port of the original game, but after enemy replacements, new story elements as well as new features, it’s definitely a whole lot more than it first seemed.

Those determined Pokemon Trainers who have signed up for the (cheap) subscription service of the Pokemon Bank will be getting a reward; the three Johto starters (complete with hidden abilities) are rolling out to you guys. Check it out here.
