Ready Player One’s release date, Fallout 4’s lack of level cap and the Flash casts Wally West.

Film

Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Ernest Cline novel Ready Player One has now got a release date; December 15th 2017. For those unfamiliar, Ready Player One’s synopsis can be found here.

Vin Diesel is the Last Witch Hunter, and he’s not afraid of anything in this second trailer which sets up the world, mythology and characters a little bit more. Also, we get Michael Caine telling us that Vin can’t die, so there’s that.

After scheduling conflicts lead to the departure of J.K Simmons and Michael Keaton, Skull Island was down two men, well now it looks like they’ve found replacements, in the form of Samuel L Jackson and John C. Reilly.

Television

The Flash is getting yet another incarnation of the Scarlet Speedster, along with the golden age Flash Jay Garrick, who will be played by Teddy Sears, Wally West, a character whose name has been thrown about a lot recently, will be a season regular in season two and will be played by Insurgent actor Keiynan Lonsdale.

October 29th will see a TV crossover between Bones and Sleepy Hollow, but what the hell will be happening? Good thing you asked, since a synopsis has just been released for both shows’ episodes.

Fox is up to their old tricks again. Literally, they’re continuing their slew of revivals with Prison Break, which will see the return of Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell.

Games

Cities: Skylines has its first expansion on the horizon, and it’s bringing in a day/night cycle, which isn’t just for aesthetics sake, and will effect the simulation, because we all know things are a little different at night.

Unravel is looking to be one of those adorable little brain benders with an amazing soundtrack, beautiful visuals and a lovely message, you should really check out this three minute video showcasing the gameplay.

Fallout 4 will have no level cap and, in a departure from the series (pre DLC) the game won’t finish once the main story is done with, says Bethesda. Along with changing how the enemies level with you, this could be a great addition to the series, since many players just long to spend as much time as possible in the Fallout world.

Bumper Games With Gold Month, Fifty Shades’ director won’t return for the sequel and Downton Abbey to finish after season 6.

Film

Well it was rumoured a while ago, but it looks like 50 Shades of Grey Director Sam Taylor-Johnson won’t be directing the sequel 50 Shades Darker. She’s thanked the cast and crew for the experience, though it’s no secret that she butted heads with author E.L. James, no word yet on her replacement.

X-Men: Apocalypse has added another young name to the cast: Lana Condor will be playing the role of pyrotechnic (see: Firework) mutant Jubilee. She’s joining the cast of youngsters such as Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops) and Alexandra Shipp (Storm) alongside many of the Days of Future Past cast.

Ready Player One’s film adaptation has a steadfast director: Warner Bros announced that Steven Spielberg will be directing the film that focusses on a gamer who has to go up against corporations and other players to win a fortune after a games’ creator dies.

Television

Downton Abbey will officially end with season 6 this year, with the finale airing at Christmas in the UK. The showrunners expressed their want to end the show while it’s strong, and without running the show into the ground by over staying its welcome. Though fans shouldn’t fret too much, as there are talks of a movie in the works.

This clip from the Jimmy Kimmel show shows Arya Stark’s first look at the House of Black and White, and who we can assume to be the Kindly man. Book readers will know that this is a great story arc for Arya, and a change of pace from her usual stories of traipsing across Westeros.

Spoilers for the Arrow/Flash HO. A set photo has arisen that shows another crossover this season between the two shows. That’s really all I can say without spoiling it. So bloody click here.

Games

Hearthstone has a new expansion coming sooner than previously thought; Blackrock Mountain‘s five wings will unlock each week through April, and will come with 31 new cards, with 2 class specific cards for each class.

Rockstar brought out a GTA V patch recently that seemed to downgrade certain aspects of the graphics engine, well they’ve reported that they’re aware of the problem and are working on rolling out a new patch to rectify it.

April’s Games with Gold for Xbox is looking like a bumper edition with twice as many games as usual: Xbox One will see Child of Light (an excellent fantasy story with a great game mechanic) and Pool Nation FX (A game I have not played, but is not a swimming simulation, it’s the other kind of pool). Xbox 360 sees four games, up until the 15th of April you can get gruff shooter Gears of War Judgement and roguelike Terraria. After that, until the 30th you can get Assassins’ Creed Black Flag and Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel.

That’s it for this week’s news, I’ll see you all on Monday!

Star Trek 3’s Robert Orci has stepped down as director, which leaves the project with one less runner. Who could take up the mantle?

Paramount have launched a ‘for your consideration’ campaign for the highest grossing movie of this year; Transformers Age of Extinction. The campaign? Best Picture at the academy awards.

Reports, er, report that Warner Brothers have approached Christopher Nolan to direct the adaptation of the novel ‘Ready Player One’.

Television

Fans of Community take a seat; I’ve got two new images from the upcoming Yahoo! Movies season, with two images of the new cast members and a run down of their characters.

The Arrow Vs Flash was a highlight of this television season, and now you can re-watch the superhero fight right here.

Stan Lee will cameo in episode 4 of Agent Carter it’s been announced.

Film

The script for Ready Player One, Ernest Cline’s brilliantly praised sci fi novel, is having another rewrite, Zak Penn, who worked on The Incredible Hulk, X2 and the Avengers. Hopefully he can give the script what it needs to get it to a director.

The Purge, a horror film where one night a year anything is legal, has a sequel and a trailer, check it out here. More of the same I imagine, but if you liked the original, then badam.

Straight off the news that Batman Vs Superman will have a teaser at Comic-con come the very similar news that Avengers Age of Ultron will have a trailer there too, the first trailer I might add. As well as maybe a few new bits regarding phase 3.

Television

The brains behind the Matrix and Cloud Atlas have released cast and plot details for their new Netflix original ‘Sense8’ about people who become telepaths, intrinsically linked to one another after a death.

Gotham, if it gets greenlit into a second season, would really like to include Mr Freeze. Which I’d like to see, considering that it’s a villain we’ve not seen realised in a dark, psuedo believable way.

Games

Did you play Twilight Princess? Did you collect those golden bugs? Well remember that creepy girl you gave them to, Agatha? You can play as her in Hyrule Warriors. I’m hoping for some kind of golden bug swarm special attack.

There’s been a massive Witcher 3 leak, so if you’re interested in the game, avoid those files/articles like the plague.

Mirrors Edge, which was a game I thoroughly enjoyed, is getting a sequel, which will focus on first person combat as well as movement, which is great, because the small amount of disarming and what not in the first game was promising, but poorly executed.
