Ready Player One’s release date, Fallout 4’s lack of level cap and the Flash casts Wally West.

Film

Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Ernest Cline novel Ready Player One has now got a release date; December 15th 2017. For those unfamiliar, Ready Player One’s synopsis can be found here.

Vin Diesel is the Last Witch Hunter, and he’s not afraid of anything in this second trailer which sets up the world, mythology and characters a little bit more. Also, we get Michael Caine telling us that Vin can’t die, so there’s that.

After scheduling conflicts lead to the departure of J.K Simmons and Michael Keaton, Skull Island was down two men, well now it looks like they’ve found replacements, in the form of Samuel L Jackson and John C. Reilly.

Television

The Flash is getting yet another incarnation of the Scarlet Speedster, along with the golden age Flash Jay Garrick, who will be played by Teddy Sears, Wally West, a character whose name has been thrown about a lot recently, will be a season regular in season two and will be played by Insurgent actor Keiynan Lonsdale.

October 29th will see a TV crossover between Bones and Sleepy Hollow, but what the hell will be happening? Good thing you asked, since a synopsis has just been released for both shows’ episodes.

Fox is up to their old tricks again. Literally, they’re continuing their slew of revivals with Prison Break, which will see the return of Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell.

Games

Cities: Skylines has its first expansion on the horizon, and it’s bringing in a day/night cycle, which isn’t just for aesthetics sake, and will effect the simulation, because we all know things are a little different at night.

Unravel is looking to be one of those adorable little brain benders with an amazing soundtrack, beautiful visuals and a lovely message, you should really check out this three minute video showcasing the gameplay.

Fallout 4 will have no level cap and, in a departure from the series (pre DLC) the game won’t finish once the main story is done with, says Bethesda. Along with changing how the enemies level with you, this could be a great addition to the series, since many players just long to spend as much time as possible in the Fallout world.

The Hobbit; the Battle of the Five Armies, has a new massive banner which you can check out here in the form of broken up pictures, it’s actually quite pleasant.

Dracula Untold, the newest attempt at making Vampires relevant again, by telling the story of the big man himself, has a new trailer.

The Mockingjay Part 1 has its first full length trailer, showcasing the rebels and their fight against the capital, it looks like they’re really focussing on the juxtaposition of Catniss and Peeta as the symbols for each of their sides.

Television

Sleepy Hollow season 2 has a host of new images for you, apparently these are slightly spoilerific, so only if you’re sure your sure.

Star Wars Revels shows off more cool stuff in this new clip, and it’s in the form of a spinning dual lightsaber. You’ve got to wonder what happened to all these wicked things in the original trilogy.

The pilot for Gotham isn’t even off of the runway yet, (the show doesn’t take off until September 25th) but we’ve already got a synopsis for the second episode for you.

Games

Microsoft purchased Minecraft creator Mojang yesterday for $2.5 billion, but that’s not the biggest news of the story as Markus ‘Notch’ Persson, as well as some more of Mojang’s staff have left the studio.

Nintendo’s Hyrule Warriors has its first TV advert, and it’s got deep voices and impending doom. 

The 3DS version of Super Smash Bros has sold over one million copies in Japan in its first week, which is hopefully a sign of things to come over here as well.

Coffee Time News 04/08/14

Happy Monday everyone, just a quick bit of admin to get out of the way; last month I mentioned that I’ve taken a bit more work at my night job, well this has left me with less time than I would prefer to dedicate to Axby. To that end, for the next 6 weeks or so, our weekly Lazy Sunday Lists will now be up on Wednesdays. I’m hoping that this will allow me to do a bit more behind the scenes to make Axby a better site for you guys.

With that out of the way it’s time for some news!

Bill Murray has been cast as Baloo the bear in Disney’s upcoming Jungle Book re-imagining.

Studio Ghibli is most likely closing its doors on production, instead focussing on managing their existing trademarks.

The Guardians of the Galaxy talk about the possibility of an avengers crossover. Spoiler, they’re all pretty keen.

Television

The creator of The Walking Dead knows when all your favourite characters are going to die.

There’s a new poster for the 7th and final season of Sons of Anarchy.

And here we have a teaser and a new poster for Sleepy Hollow season two. Don’t lose your head over it.

Games

For fans of Zelda and regular board games, I present to you the hero of time and the king of board games. Yup, Zelda Monopoly. Get them rupees.

In some nice gaming publicity for once, scientists have found an hour’s worth of gaming can make children happy. Which, since I play games more than koalas sleep I must be the happiest guy out there.

So, the Destiny Beta had a big bit of story-plot that was hidden away, the Vault could be reached by playing around on the water with the speeder bikes.
