The Good Dinosaur gets a trailer, The Minecraft Movie gets a director and Dark Souls 3’s combat gets quicker.

Film

A new trailer (the first real trailer) for Disney/Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur has launched, and it’s shaping up to be a buddy film with very little speech, kind of along the lines of Wall-E I imagine. But still, dinosaurs, adventure, great animation? Sign me up.

Last month we lost composer James Horner, known for doing scores for films such as Braveheart, Titanic and Avatar. Well it seems that despite that we’ve not seen the last of his work, as it’s recently been revealed that Horner had written the score to The Magnificent Seven before his passing.

Finally, there’s been a new trailer, some new images and a new plot synopsis for Spectre the upcoming Bond film.

Television

The X-Files reboot, it seems, will not just be Mulder and Scully looking around empty rooms and interacting with no one at all, as we’ve got some co-stars to report! Robbie Amell (The Flash) Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under) and Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley) are all set to co-star.

Quite a dark, contrasted look at Grant Gutin’s new suit for the Flash season 2, but hey, it’s something I suppose.

A new short trailer for Supergirl has surfaced, it doesn’t show off a lot more, but once again, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Games

Movie/game news up first, and the Minecraft Movie has a director in the form of Always Sunny’s Rob McElhenney.

Apparently Bloodborne had more lasting effects than a pile of broken controllers, and as a result of the game, the combat in Dark Souls 3 will be faster paced than it’s predecessors.

Martin Freeman reveals a little more about his Civil War role, huge patch for the Witcher 3 and new ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ trailer.

Film

Fantastic Four is nearly upon us, like, really nearly. So close in fact that all we’ve got left to watch is a few more TV spots that show off even more unseen footage, with quite a bit of Doom.

Director Sam Mendes has confirmed that Spectre, the next Bond film, will be his last such film. In short he won’t be directing Bond 25. Mendes revitalised the series with 2012’s Skyfall, creating one of the highest grossing and best received Bond films since that one with the submarine car (probably).

Martin Freeman has given us some deliciously cryptic information about his role in Civil War, he’s working for the government, he’s on the side of pro-registration; OR IS HE. He’s walking a grey line apparently.

Television

Wet Hot American Summer First Day of Camp has another promotional video, this time it’s a chance to meet some of the staff, it’s full of that great 1980’s vibe that the last one had. Oh it’s glorious.

David Ramsey (of Arrow) has spoken about his up and coming costume, as well as his first reactions to it, he’s also making noises about wanting another Flash crossover, as well as seeing Diggle’s reaction to a Kryptonian.

Games

Last week we talked briefly about Prototype and the re-release of both those games as a bundle on both new gen consoles. Well, if you had planned to get it but, for some reason, were waiting for this week, maybe thing again, as the general consensus is, ehh, better not.

The Witcher 3 sees a HUGE 7GB patch today, introducing storage caches around the map to unload Geralt, a new movement option, a load of bug fixes and some inventory modifications.

Xbox One streaming to Windows 10 is available now, even though the OS isn’t due to launch for 9 more days.

Batmobile specifications, Shaun from the Walking Dead joins Daredevil as The Punisher, and Halo 5’s co-op won’t need a gold subscription.

Film

Over at Screenrant they’ve plucked a heap of posters for upcoming films from the Las Vegas Licensing Expo including Fantastic Beasts and where to find them, Power Rangers and Independence Day 2.

We’ve had plenty of looks at the Batmobile since it was revealed last year, but now we not only get a full description of the vehicle, but also of the specifications of the technology and weapons on board.

A new TV spot for Spectre reveals a load of new footage, as well as the iconic; Bond, James Bond. So, get watching Bond fans!

Television

While Jason Statham may not be appearing as Bullseye in Daredevil, Marvel have recently announced that The Walking Dead and Fury star Jon Bernthal will be taking up the mantel of Frank Castle, AKA The Punisher, in season 2. I for one can’t wait to see Murdock and Castle tango.

After the Pilot leaked a couple of weeks ago, news on the Supergirl television series has gone a little quiet, but no longer! The series will officially kick off on the 26th of October this year.

Games

Halo 5: Guardians will ship with over 20 multiplayer maps, with 15 more coming in DLC later in the lifeline of the game, but more exciting, Xbox Live Gold will not be necessary to play the Co-op story that accompanies the campaign.

Mirror’s Edge 2 is, well, no longer Mirror’s Edge 2. Instead DICE have named it Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst. It’s also not a sequel, it’s a re-evaluation of the experience… or something.

Metal Gear fans who don’t yet own a PS4 might want to check out this special edition console that will be releasing with the newest game in the series, it’s very pretty.

Coffee Time News 30/03/15

Halo 5 gets a release date and 2 trailers, Deadpool’s costume revealed and Hiro  to make a return to the Heroes spinoff.

Film

In case you missed it on Friday, the first trailer for the 24th Bond film Spectre was released; it’s all full of mystery and secrets and blind people looking at rings. I make it sound lame, but it’s not, go look.

Hugh Jackman is a confusing beast. First he says that Wolverine 3 will be his last outing with the character, then he says that he’d like to play the canuck until he dies, now he’s released this tweet saying ‘one last time’

<blockquote class=”twitter-tweet” lang=”en”>

WOLVERINE …ONE LAST TIME. HJ https://t.co/Z8ANwmIS8d

— Hugh Jackman (@RealHughJackman) March 28, 2015

Is this the last time he’s working with James Mangold? The last solo outing? Or his last film as Wolverine? More on it as it develops.

Wolverine could very well make an appearance in Deadpool, since the latest plot synopsis harkens back to the weapon X program, and the origins of the Merc with the mouth (all doable thanks to the Days of Future Past Retcon). On top of that, Reynolds has also released this image of the costume, in perfect Deadpool fashion.

Television

A new trailer for Seth MacFarlane’s Blunt Talk with Patrick Stewart has appeared, and it’s showing us Stewart in a way we’ve not really seen before.

There’s a bunch of new footage in the newest TV Spot for Daredevil showing both action and Daredevil’s training (I assume) as well as a conversation with perhaps another blind man, perhaps he’ll help Murdock hone his skills?

Heroes Reborn has had little in the way of announcements recently, but the most recent one heralds the return of Masi Oka as Hiro Nakamura. The time travelling/teleporting hero from the original series.

Games

Well this is super interesting: Halo 5 Guardians has a release date; 27th of October this year, but more exciting, the news comes with two new trailers, live action ones at that. Now, the two trailers sort of show the same event, from different perspectives, they seem to be drilling in the whole ‘hunt the truth’ thing  we saw with the audio teaser.

Zelda for the WiiU has been delayed until next year, series producer Eiji Aonouma has announced. Saying that during development more ideas have come forth and their focus is no longer on a 2015 release, but instead on creating the best Zelda game they can.

Bloodborne players have experienced a progress stalling bug, resulting in the inability to get an item to progress in the game. The best way to avoid it is to refrain from using a summoning bell to initiate a multiplayer session in the Forbidden Forest section.

Classic costumes will be in Fantastic Four, New lazer team trailer and Nintendo are going onto the Mobile Market.

Film

Miles Teller, who will be playing Reed Richards (AKA Mr Fantastic) in Josh Trank’s upcoming Fantastic Four, has spoken a little about the costumes we can expect to see in the film. The trailer showed off the containment suits, specially designed attire that keeps the four’s powers in check, but he also said it would be ‘very odd if the Fantastic Four didn’t don the traditional costumes’ so maybe we’ll see blue spandex after all.

Check out Daniel Craig in all his turtle neck glory in this teaser poster for the upcoming Bond film Spectre. That’s really all there is to it, the film’s ages away yet, what do you want from me? Real news? Yeah that’s fair.

Lazer Team, the partly crowd funded feature length film from Red Vs Blue creators Roosterteeth has a new full length trailer, released earlier this week for those who supported the indie go-go campaign, the trailer shows a little bit more of the technology and the team.

Television

In other superhero suit news, Marvel’s Daredevil has a new motion poster which shows Matt Murdock morphing into Daredevil, but more than that, Marvel’s Chief creative officer Joe Quesada talks about the evolution of the suit, from a thrown together ‘ninja suit’ to eventually, the fully realised red suit.

Community season 6 aired its first two episodes last night on Yahoo video, and some of the cast and crew held a panel at SXSW this week, talking about the new found freedom that has come with moving away from traditional networks

Games

Jurassic World isn’t far away, and so far the best movie tie in games have been the lego ones, well, that’s just as well as you can now check out the trailer for the Lego Jurassic Park game, which will follow all four films.

Here’s a turn up for the books: Nintendo is looking to release a new IP on the mobile market. So, no ports of classic games just yet.

Playstation Now, the PS4 game streaming service which will allow players to rent games available on PS3 and play them on their new console, is going into a private beta for the UK, You can sign up here.

The Casting Rumour-mill

By Sara Da Silva

The announcement of new films comes hand in hand with casting rumours. Some turn out to be surprisingly accurate, and others can be the dumbest thing you’ve ever heard. Let’s talk about that.

Wicked. I fell head over heels in love with this musical a few years ago so I hold it very close to my heart. When I heard rumours of Harry Styles being cast as Fiyero, the main male lead, it almost killed me. If I were to list the things fundamentally wrong with this then we’d be here for hours. As it is still in its early stages nothing definite has been released, so I’m hoping that future announcements will put my mind at ease.

I am well aware of the fact that the casting of Nicholas Cage in Superman Lives was a rumour turned reality, but I needed to give it a quick mention because of how hilarious it is to me. Thank heavens it was cancelled. I mean honestly, what were they thinking?

Moving swiftly on, Spectre, the 24th James Bond film, is scheduled to be released later this year. Daniel Craig is signed on for one more film after Spectre, but after that James Bond is open for the taking. In a leaked email from Amy Pascal, the chairperson of the Motion Pictures Group of Sony Pictures Entertainment, Idris Elba was supposedly put forward as a candidate. Rush Limbaugh, a US conservative radio show host, addressed the rumours stating that Ian Fleming, the author of the books, wrote Bond as a “white [man] from Scotland”, and that he should not be played by a black actor. Oh how he is so very wrong. Idris Elba is the perfect choice for the next James Bond. He’s excruciatingly talented and devilishly handsome. This is one casting rumour that I’m backing 110%.

The majority of these rumours are started by people simply throwing out famous names. For example, when Star Wars: The Force Awakens was announced casting rumours ran wild, from Zac Efron and Benedict Cumberbatch, to Ryan Gosling and Leonardo DiCaprio. I’m pretty sure they were just listing every famous name they could think of. Although, there were rumours of Adam Driver (HBO’s Girls) being cast and they turned out to be completely accurate. I suppose if they list enough names then one of them is bound to be true.

And last, but certainly not least: Spider-Man. So, it turns out Andrew Garfield, much to my heart’s dismay, is no longer playing Spider-Man. But, perhaps it’s time to move on to bigger and better things.

Before Andrew Garfield was originally cast, there was a pretty big online campaign to get Donald Glover to play Spider-Man. But, of course, like the reaction that followed rumours of Idris being in the running for James Bond, some people weren’t quite on board.

With the role of Spider-Man back on the table, Glover’s name has been thrown into the pile. Rumours have been circulating that the newest films would portray Miles Morales as Spider-Man, as opposed to Peter Parker. And with Donald Glover voicing Miles in the Ultimate Spider-Man, it’s not a big leap to suggest that he’s being considered for the role. At least I hope he is.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and continue speculating until we eventually find out who will be playing our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man. We promise you’ll be the first to know.

Coffee Time News 05/01/15

Holy crap it’s already next year. Well, I hope you all had a great holiday, I know the team here got some well needed rest, but we’re back to get this gravy train up and running again. (Please don’t mention gravy, I ate so much…)

Film

The coolest man in the world/canceller of the apocalypse Idris Elba has weighed in on the rumours that he could be the next Bond. Sort of. It’s not a confirmation, but it’s definitely not a denial, but best of all it’s hilarious.

February 1st will see the Superbowl, but for those who don’t care for sports, we all know the adverts are worth watching anyway, and this year is no exception, with a TV spot for Jurassic World recently being confirmed.

In the vein of teasers/trailers and everything else, we’ve got two Marvel announcements; Tomorrow will see the premier of Marvel’s Agent Carter, and if you stick through the adverts you’ll get to see the first full length trailer for Ant-Man. Likewise, a second trailer for Avengers 2 Age of Ultron will be airing on the 12th during the 2015 College Football Play-offs on ESPN.

Television

Speaking of Ant-Man, star Paul Rudd will reprise his role as Sweetum’s Heir Bobby Newport in 2 episodes of the final season of Parks and Recreation that will air this month.

January 20th and 21st are a long way off for Flash and Arrow fans, but luckily Flickering Myth have the synopsis for the Mid-season premiers of the two DC heroes’ shows.

Daredevil Showrunner Steven S. DeKnight has spoken briefly about the atmosphere of the show, saying he was influenced heavily by The Wire, and says that Bullseye won’t be making an immediate appearance, boasting that his antagonist has a back story and everything.

Games

Sony’s PSN was down for a few days over the holidays, causing a bit of an uproar, so Sony have announced that they’ll be giving all PSN subscribers (who had active subscriptions during the down time) will get 5 days free (which is longer than it was down for) and customers won’t have to do anything. On top of that, at some point this month those subscribers will get 10% off of a cart purchase.

The creator of Smash Bros Masahiro Sakurai, has defended the casual market for the Nintendo brawling game, saying that if the game was built around pro gaming, and only pro gaming, then there’d be no future for the series.

Elder Scrolls Online has recently dropped its 6 month subscription offer, with the console version reportedly due out this year, could this be the start of a Free2Play set up?
