Angelina Jolie returning as Malificent, FX acquire Jurassic World television rights and Gambit gets a director.

Just Television and Films today, since James is covering all things gaming with his E3 coverage which you can find on our main page.

Angelina Jolie has been confirmed for the return of Malificent in the sequel to the 2014 reimagining that reeled in over $750 million. No wonder Disney are looking to take advantage of a successful jumping off point, with Tomorrowland not doing to great.

We’ve got our first look at another returning character in the Star Wars franchise; Carrie Fisher can be seen in these image sporting a… space pant suit?

Gambit may finally have a director! Rupert Wyatt, who helmed the reboot/prequel Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Though we don’t have any solid idea of a storyline the script is in the hands of Josh  Zetumer, who penned Robocop (2014), which wasn’t terrible.

For those worried that starring in a superhero TV show would be all peaches and gravy, the Supergirl cast have a few words on the pressure they feel to live up to everyone’s expectations, though they say it’s the good kind of pressure that makes you want to be better in every way.

In quiet news that might not come of anything, FX Networks have acquired the television rights to the incredibly successful Jurassic World, could we see a TV series? Probably not, you’d need a lot of resources to pull of those effects.

For James’ rundown of everything that happened at the EA and Ubisoft conferences head on over here. While everything Microsoft can be found right here. Remember to check back during the week for more E3 updates.

Independence Day 2’s synopsis revealed, Constantine officially dead and I am Bread coming to PS4.

C-3PO has a new look for the upcoming Star Wars The Force Awakens. And by that, I mean he’s got a red arm; perhaps in the time since we last saw him he had his arm cut off just like everyone else in that franchise? Or he dipped his hand in some red paint.

The first teaser poster for the Assassins’ Creed movie starring Michael Fassbender has appeared, it’s got an eagle on it. So we’re still going with that motif I guess. Good, keep to the roots of the series.

Independence Day 2 has its synopsis! After Independence Day redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global catastrophe on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.

So, Alien technology makes humanity a little too loud in the universe, aliens come and try to teach us all a lesson.

True Detective Season 2 has a new pair of 30 second trailers, fans of the first season won’t want to miss them, they show off some of the cast, some of the chaos, some of the… detectives?

Daniel Cerone, the showrunner behind Constantine has out and confirmed that the show is officially over, with the team being released from their contracts. This will be disappointing to those who enjoyed the series, but for those who have been following the show, it’s not much of a surprise.

Dark Souls 3 is not only happening, but has had a load of information leaked this weekend, the guys over at Funhaus have all the pretty pictures and the info for you.

I am Bread, the bread simulation game from the creator of Surgeon Simulater, is coming to the PS4, complete with new trophies and game modes, including bagel races.

There’s an exploit in the Witcher 3 that allows you to rack up hundreds of monies in a few moments by slaughtering cows, meditating, then back to the slaughter, well no longer, as the game devs have patched it in the best way possible, it’s called the Bovine defence force, and it’s brilliant.

Andy Serkis’ role in The Force Awakens revealed, Trevor Noah to debut in September for the Daily Show and FIFA 16 to include womens’ teams.

We’ve got some set photos from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 which not only feature Shredder and the turtles, but also have a focus on newcomers Bebop and Rocksteady, you know, those two mutants who are like, a punk rhino and a punk Warthog? Anyway, we see them here in their regular human skins, so hopefully this is pre-mutation.

Another day, another Inside Out clip, this one focusses on memories, and the ‘core’ memories that determine the film characters’ personality. Who’s got bets on this being a major plot point?

Andy Serkis has revealed a set image from Star Wars the Force Awakens that should answer a few questions; most notably that Serkis will be in motion capture this time around, and that his character is named ‘supreme commander Snoke’. The leader of the remnants of the empire most likely.

The Daily Show’s new host, Trevor Noah will make his debut as host of the irreverent comedy show on September 28th. You can check out Noah trying out his new chair right here.

Dylan Bruce, star of Orphan Black and Arrow’s Brother Blood, has been cast in Heroes Reborn though very little is known about his character as of yet. Heroes Reborn will air some time this autumn.

Harvey Dent, played in Gotham by Nicholas D’Agasto, has been promoted to a series regular for season 2.

Assassins’ Creed Syndicate the next game in Ubisoft’s historical stabbing simulation will not have a companion app, unlike the last two instalments in the series, so that the dev team can focus on the ‘core experience’. Yes, please, more of this. Syndicate seems to be trying to right the wrongs of the last few games.

It’s taken this long, but female football (soccer) teams will finally be playable in FIFA 16. Not that we usually report on FIFA games, but this is kind of a big step. Not that you’ll be able to play mixed games, but there will be 12 international women’s teams available.

Free Games time; Microsoft’s Games for gold for June include Massive Chalice for Xbox One as well as Thief and Just Cause 2 for Xbox 360. While PSplus’s games include Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes and Super Exploding Zoo for PS4 and Cloudberry Kingdom for PS3. Check out the full list here.

The second Star Wars Spin off will be a Bobba Fett Origin, we learn more about Gwendoline Christies Force Awakened character and Nintendo apologises for being so popular.

Days after we learn of the departure of Josh Trank from the second Star Wars Anthology film (with the first being Rogue One due out next year) we learn what the film’s focus will be and no surprises, everyone called it; we’re getting a Bobba Fett origin story folks. That’s right, everyone’s favourite bounty hunter (who’s kind of awful at his job) is getting his own film.

After great critical and public approval, it looks like John Wick starrin Keanu Reeves will be getting a sequel, Lionsgate announced, stating that not only will Reeves be returning, but so will the pair of directors behind the first film as well as the screenwriter.

Star Wars the Force Awakens has been getting a lot of publicity thanks to the unofficial ‘May the Fourth’ holiday, and today, (on revenge of the fifth) we get a better look at Gwendoline Christie’s character; Captain Phasma. It looks like she’s an imperial officer, but the actress has been seen training with a lightsaber… So… sith?

The Simpsons will be on the air until at least 2017, thanks to a 2 season renewal by Fox. Will this show ever end? Probably not, it hasn’t after 26 seasons (These two newly announced ones will bring the total to 28) so I doubt it.

Tim Kring (of Heroes fame) and his studio, Imperative Entertainment has teamed up with Black Mask Studios to bring a television adaptation of the comic series MAYDAY, which sees two friends attempting to stop the apocalypse in L.A.

Those worried that Star Wars Battlefront might be lacking in content need not worry about the number of maps, as there will be 12 multiplayer maps out of the box, with (I’m sure) more in the way of DLC further down the line.

Sega of America won’t be attending E3 this year. so you know what that means, no half assed sonic games! Though, if you’re sad about that, try not to be, because remember that Bethesda have a panel this year, which could mean… you know… Fallout 4?

Nintendo has officially apologised for their underestimation of the popularity of Amiibos, releasing a statement promising to up production and keep the figures affordable all the while.

Leaked Batman Vs Superman trailer, new Star Wars trailer and a release date for Star Wars Battlefront.

BIG day for trailers, we’ve got the new Star Wars the Force Awakens trailer, featuring more droids, more lightsabers, more storm troopers taking off helmets and looking surprised. Frankly, if you don’t get shivers on that opening note, you’re not human (or maybe just a Star Wars fan). We’ve also got a leaked version (shaky cam ahoy) of the Batman Vs Superman Dawn of Justice trailer ahead of it’s release on Monday, so if you can’t wait, go ahead and watch it, it’s pretty good; Batman has glowy eyes and a robot voice (his doctor said too much growling is bad for this throat).

In the MCU, Kevin Feige has given some thoughts on Civil War, Antman and the introduction of Daredevil into the films. It’s a good little look at the man who’s got a hell of a lot on his plate, and still keeps his cool.

The Flash is really ramping up in excitement now that Harrison Wells is getting closer to being figured out, and the next episode titled ‘Who is Harrison Wells?’ should be a big step into paying off the season’s biggest mystery. There’s a pair of TV Spots right here to check out. We also see an arm changing into something, possibly a shape shifter which could explain some of the more questionable things we’ve seen in the late season teasers.

IMAGE GALLERY TIME. Flickering Myth have a neat gallery of set photos from AKA Jessica Jones, which include Ritter’s character talking to Tennant’s the Purple Man as well as some sneaky hooding snooping.

Despite the fall of SHIELD and the death of Nick Fury, Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) looks to be returning to Agents of SHIELD in the near future; with the secrets that Coulson’s been hiding, the building of the Inhumans world, how will Ex SHIELD Agent Hill come into all this? Fury’s messenger? Probably Fury’s messenger.

Inkeeping with the Star Wars announcements, Star Wars Battlefront is rumoured to be launching on Next Gen Consoles (Current Gen? No idea anymore) and PC on November the 17th as discovered via the NeoGaf forums, it’s unconfirmed, but it would make sense to make the most of the release of the new film.

For all your streetpassers, your Nintendo 3DS just got a little less annoying to use. Here’s a list of the new updates to the streetpass feature courtesy of Kotaku.

The team responsible for Borderlands the Presequel, 2K Australia, is to be shut down, in an effort to reduce costs and to improve the working proximity of the creative teams, according to a statement from an anonymous 2K source today.

Sara Looks Ahead: Films of 2015

By Sara Da Silva

2014 is over. Pause for dramatic realisation of how fast time goes by. Whilst this year might not be what Back to the Future imagined, it will be a fairly good year for film. This won’t be an extensive list but these are a few of the movies that I’m personally excited for.

1. The Avengers: Age of Ultron (April 2015): My level of excitement for this film is off the charts. Things go terribly wrong when Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program with Ultron. So it’s up to the Avengers to stop Ultron from eradicating the human race from Earth. The usual cast of Robert Downey, Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner and Scarlett Johansson is back, and more beautiful than ever.

2. Pitch Perfect 2 (May 15th 2015): This movie sees the Barden Bellas enter an international a capella competition that no American team has ever won. So, no pressure. Welcoming back the cast we love, including Anna Kendrick who is taking this year by storm, this film seems like it’ll be even better than the first.

3. Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (December 18, 2015): Don’t mind me I’m just freaking out internally. The trailer sparked major controversy amongst old and new fans. But, disregarding the stress of it all, I’m excited to see how it turns out. I might just have to stay away from the internet crazies when it’s released.

4. Ant-Man (17th July 2015): I initially had my reservations about this film but the Ant-Man teaser put my mind at ease. It’s Marvel after all so I doubt it’ll be disappointing. Armed with a super-suit with the ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, Scott Lang must help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world. Fingers crossed it goes off without a hitch.

5. Inside Out (June 19th 2015): Finally, a new Pixar movie that can compete with some of the best. Riley, who is forced to move with her family to San Francisco, is guided by her emotions – Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to their new life, turmoil ensues in the emotion Headquarters. With Mindy Kaling as Disgust and Phyllis Smith as Sadness, fans of The Office US will be rather pleased. Personally I can’t wait to hear Amy Poehler as Joy. Definitely a film for all ages.

6. Jurassic World (May 11th 2015): Set twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park with a genetically modified hybrid dinosaur. You’d think they’d know better by now. But of course, the dinosaur runs wild on the island causing major havoc. After Chris Pratt’s amazing performance in Guardians of the Galaxy, I’m really excited to see how well he’ll do in Jurassic World.

7. Mad Max: Fury Road (15th May): Set in a stark desert landscape, two rebels on the run might be able to restore order to this apocalyptic world. With Tom Hardy and Nicholas Hoult starring in Mad Max this is definitely a movie that I’ll need to see, for obvious reasons…

The full trailer for the Force Awakens may not be here for a few months as it’s reported that it will be attached the Marvel’s The Avengers; Age of Ultron, which makes sense as it’s two of Disney’s biggest properties.

Will Smith, Jared Leto and Tom Hardy have all been confirmed for DC’s Suicide Squad movie.
