Coffee Time News 03/08/15

Hey! It’s been a long time, but we’re back, after a week’s absence, which we apologise for, it’s time to get back to regularly scheduled programming!

Zoolander 2, after years of rumours (and probably helped out by  the fact that they decided to make an Anchorman 2) has its first trailer (because we don’t quite count that time Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson crashed the fashion show.)

Ridley Scott’s The Martian looks to be a scientifically accurate sci-fi fare that’s also a tale of survival as one man is separated from his team on Mars when a dust storm rolls in, here’s some new images showing off the atmosphere and tone of the film.

You know how normally, we’d show you a teaser one week, and a trailer a few weeks later, and then as the film’s release gets closer we’d throw any clips that happen to come up your way? Well we sort of missed The Man from U.N.C.L.E and are jumping straight in with a bunch of clips from Guy Richie’s new spy film.

AMC have graciously offered us a look at Better Call Saul season 2, and by that, we mean here’s two images of the season… Thanks AMC.

Game of Thrones is likely to end after 8 seasons, according to the powers that be. Though HBO has expressed their enthusiasm for more storytelling from that world (it is a huge world, and so much has been shaved off for the show) so we may only see 8 seasons of Game of Thrones, but perhaps more of the land of Westeros.

Steven Moffat has out and said that Maisie Williams’ Doctor Who character isn’t a returning one; no River Song, no Jenny, none of those other cool fan theories that have popped up since she was first seen in the trailer to be familiar with the Doctor.

Soon, Playstation owners will get a say on which PS4 games they’ll get free each month, at least, one of the games. Sony is introducing a Vote to Play system, where player will get to vote on a selection of games, the winner of which will be free the next month, the runners up? They’ll be discounted. Winners all round.

Today is the last day you’ll be able to bag yourself the immensely fun Rocket League for free on PS4. And I’d heartily recommend it, but if my recommendation isn’t quite enough, try looking at some of the new dealies you’ll get when the first piece of DLC comes out.

The Taken King is set to be Destiny’s biggest update, and with it comes a whole new area, the Dreadnought, take a look over at Polygon for he sort of thing that Oryx has in store for you come September 15th.

GTA Heists release to a shaky start, new Inside Out and Daredevil trailers, and Zoolander crashes Paris Fashion Week.

Well, this makes me wish I had gone to Paris Fashion Week. Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson crashed, for want of a better word, Paris Fashion Week as Derek Zoolander and Hansel McDonald. (you know, from Zoolander) The sequel Zoolander 2 now has an official release date of February 12th 2016, and you can see Hansel’s and Zoolander’s appearance here.

Tron 3 will begin production this autumn, according to ‘insider scoops’. This would point towards a late 2016 release for the film that will, according to Joseph Kosinksi, be darker and more akin to Empire Strikes Back. But the important question remains, will the best character of Legacy return? I’m talking of course, about Daft Punk’s Soundtrack.

Finally, check out the third trailer for Inside Out, it shows us a little bit more of the plot, and it’s looking to be a bit of a buddy adventure between Sadness (Phyllis Smith) and Joy(Amy Poehler), with Anger (Lewis Black), Envy (Mindy Kaling), and Fear (Bill Hader) running the ship while they’re away and getting into, just, all kinds of shenanigans.

Powers, the Playstation Original Series based on the graphic novel series of the same name, has a new full length trailer, and also, if you’re one of our readers based in the US, you can watch the first episode for free right here. Enjoy!

Marvel’s first Netflix show, Daredevil is less than a month away, and here’s another full length trailer, it shows off a bit more of Kingpin, and the parallels between him and Murdock. There’s also a neat shout out to the Avengers, so just because it’s dark and violent doesn’t mean it’s not a part of the MCU.

HBO is joining the realm of internet streaming subscription services with HBO Now. HBO Go is a pre-existing streaming service, but is only available for those with a HBO cable subscription, that will not be the case for HBO Now which will run at a subscription fee of $15 a month. As of yet, there’s no news as to whether the service will be rolling out internationally.

Heists were finally released on GTA Online yeserday! Which means, that, of course, it all went off without a hitch right? Yeah, not so much. Server issues across the board, and limited access meant that it’s off to a rocky start for the most anticipated update in the game’s history.

Sid Meier’s Starships is a bit of a departure from the usual fair of Civilisation, though it does have familiar components (democratic dealings, for example,) but what’s most interesting is that the developers decided to work off of player’s inherent knowledge of space, instead of the cold hard facts. This is an interesting article by Charlie Hall over at Polygon, but one example is the Asteroid fields, and how they behave the way that people expect them to from seeing them in films, shows and other games, pretty clever.

Dying Light has a new update rolling out, the Hard Mode patch. As well as introducing a new, well, hard mode, the update also brings new weapons, new outfits and new behind the scenes improvements, check out this run down video from Techland for the full scoop.

Spiderman, Spiderman, teaming up with Ironman.

Spiderman comes to the MCU, a first look at Gotham’s Joker and Lady Sif returns to Agents of SHIELD.

The signs all pointed this way, and today it was announced that it’s finally happening; get your web slingers and your great powers and responsibilities ready, because SPIDERMAN IS COMING TO THE MCU. The deal is this: Spiderman (most likely to be recast, again) will appear in an MCU instalment (our money is on Captain America: Civil War because, plot.) and will then star in his own movie to be released in July 2017, which will be in the same universe as Stark, Rogers, and Romanov .

The caveat to all this is that all the planned MCU releases after July 2017 (Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Captain Marvel and the Inhumans) will be shifted down to the next release date (Thor moves to Panthers slot of November 2017, etc), while the Inhumans will be moved to July 12 as it’s the last in the chain. It looks like the Avengers: Infinity War parts 1 and 2 will stay where they are, what effect that will have  on the story lines, we’ll have to see.

And for those who are worried about yet another Spidey origin story, think about this; if we’re getting at least a costumed cameo in Civil War (or whatever feature it ends up being) we can’t have an origin story come July 2017, unless they go the lazy way of flashbacks. I say just jump straight in, we all know what happened to Parker.

Any news we report after that is going to sound lacklustre isn’t it? Well, Fifty Shades of Grey already has both sequels in the works, as it was announced on an advanced screening of the film that will be released this weekend, the good money’s on a yearly release schedule of Valentine’s Day.

Speaking of Sequels, Zoolander 2 is to start filming in Rome in the spring, the sequel will presumably see the two stars of the first film (who had given up the fashion game by the end of the original) taking to the European Catwalk, to maybe stop another world war?

Well… That happened quickly. Do you want to see the first glimps of Gotham‘s Joker? Well it’s here. I’m intrigued.

Thor‘s Jaime Alexander, who played Lady Sif in both instalments, will be returning to Agents of SHIELD in the second episode of this half-season. With Amnesia, so while we can expect some light to be shed on the events of the winter finale, the show has a way to cover its tracks. Good old Amnesia.

Fans of Game of Thrones with half an hour to spare might want to check out this behind the scenes feature. Well, it’s nearly time for season 5, so we can expect more of these little treats from HBO as the months go on.

The Xbox One is finally getting a screenshot function, which might not sound like a big deal, but having the option to quickly snap a screen while playing my PS4 has been a great boon to capturing the pretty, funny or just plain mental things that can happen.

Super Smash Brothers for the 3DS is getting an update this week which will open itself up to Amiibo support, with the release of compatible hardware (the New 3DS) at the end of the week, it’s fairly well timed.

Speaking on the New 3DS, if you’re one of those who’s already got a 3DS but want to shift your save files from one t’other, check out this video guide from Nintendo themselves.
